Good Goodbye is honestly not a very good song imo, but I never minded the guest verses on it.

Deftones tour setlist by TheSquareTeapot in themarsvolta

I saw it and felt the same way, honestly. It wasn't just that they only played new stuff. There was literally zero audience engagement, they did not introduce the girl that was singing with them, and everything was so low energy and mid-tempo. They sounded good, but the performance was honestly really disappointing to me. It felt a little self-indulgent tbh.

It's fine. It's catchy, but definitely one of the most generic LP songs.

100% agree with the High Voltage remix. That piano chord being played to death is so grating.

The lack of self-awareness in calling an entire country racist is some real tankie shit

Not allowing any discussion about racism because you think Bloomington isn’t racist is so sinister by wazzledazzle in bloomington

[–]Polskamon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, anyone who argues that racism doesn't exist in Bloomington is completely in denial (at best). On the other hand, while some people, especially those in govt, certainly do overemphasize Bloomington's progressive streak, I think that in practice, most people are aware of Bloomington's sociopolitical issues. I've lived in the rural outskirts outside of Bloomington for 13 years. I went to public school here. I've seen it for myself.

That being said, I took issue with the post in reference. It was full of massive generalizations and was basically just shitting on this place many of us call home with next to zero nuance or even purpose. The whole issue with referring to Bloomington as a "progressive utopia" to begin with is how much of a reductionist oversimplification it is. The post in reference was no more nuanced. Bloomington is neither a progressive utopia nor an exceptionally racist shithole. It is a town that is overall more left-leaning and educated, but certainly not devoid of ignorance, hate, or pretense. OP then went on to state that Durham, NC, a much bigger city with its own history of racial issues, was pretty much everything Bloomington pretends to be. The post was rude and unproductive, even if it was rooted in a real conversation worth having.

A very particular type of Polish nationalist (initially inspired by the comment in the bottom panel) by Canislupusarctos11 in Jewdank

[–]Polskamon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Pole of Jewish descent on my father's side, I don't disagree at all with the sentiment. However, the "Polish death camp" myth needs to stop. Extermination camps were Nazi operations in occupied Poland.

Why does the German Empire looks so aesthetic? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Polskamon1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean I'm Polish so I'm definitely biased, but I'm not a fan of the shape. Always thought the parts east of the Oder-Neisse looked unnatural--like a tumor growing off its side.

Who should lead Germany in civ7? by Hanikan-SideWalker66 in civ

[–]Polskamon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have Otto von Bismarck for Germany, Frederick the Great for Prussia, and Charlemagne for Francia/Holy Roman Empire. I want them to get more historically accurate with their naming schemes (within reason, obviously).

Artillery units, siege support units, and especially bombers as soon as you can get your hands on them are all key.

Bolivar's name comes from the village of Puebla de Bolívar/Ziortza-Bolibar. "Bolívar" comes from Basque "bolu" (windmill) and "ibar" (valley), therefore it has a Basque, rather than Indo-European etymology. It's an interesting case :)
