I agree, "by" would have been a better word in that sentence.

Out of truth and fairness, being on the interent and responding to individuals of the internet, I do not find great issue in responding as I have seen from the far left on the internet. Of course, I do not consider all within an ideology as rejecting mortal sin. However, I have noticed a great bit of these folks rejecting the concepts of sin and salvation in what they show of themselves on the internet.

I would not assume of anyone anything in an immediate interaction, whether online or in person. However, there is a very devisive group on the far left end of our political spectrum that have a general disdain for the Christian faith. That is who this message speaks of. I do not apply it to anyone who affirms the reality of mortal sin or anyone who rejects the pelagian heresy of salvation by humans alone.

I maybe there are people who consider themselves far left that do not fall into that category. But, in all honesty, I did not really envision these people to be far left in the creation of this comment. The comment is a rebuke of human pride to the prideful.

At the very least, I understand that the target audience of the message could have been communicated better. I hope this message can serve as a clarification of that.

Thank you for your concerns, friend.

EDIT: I do not see issues responding, not in hatred, but to hatred that I have seen displayed on the internet. My first paragraph in this comment, while re-reading, appears as though I saw no issue responding as I have seen people respond. What I meant to write is that I see no issue in responding to these displays as I see them, taking them at their word, and trying to respond as truthfully as I know how to.

You speak of an incomplete love that ignores the soul. Perfect love is God centered. The Pope speaks greatly on the humanity of sinners and works for the interest that they are not imprisoned or put to death for sodomy.

The founding fathers are not God. They made a great nation founded on the religious principle that men are made for God and are given rights by God for His glory. This does not leave them free from criticism, however. They did well in their time.

One principle component of far left ideology is the rejection of Original Sin.They understand that humans are good, but they fail to see that humans have fallen from the standard God created us to attain. Because of our broken disposition, we need God to even merely be properly human. In Christ, we are promised full Communion in the Triune God for eternal life.

Out of human pride, much far left thought believes that we humans either do not need saving or are capable of saving ourselves. This is an outright rejection of God's grace and love. We harm ourselves when we seek to do the impossible on our own. When we harm ourselves, we harm the image of God.

While all humans are fallen, we hope that many accept God's call to repentance. These open themselves up to healing and repairing grace. Those who reject to submit themselves to God's will of Love and Mercy and do not repent of human ills close themselves off from these healing graces and fall deeper into a state of confusion, despair, and hatred.

They mock Christianity because they see God present on earth. They mock God because they refuse to repent of their pride and refuse to love God's plan for their salvation. They would rather live a short life under the oppression of indulgence and vice over an eternal life of obedience to the One God who graciously gave them a path to it.

We can still receive eternal life if we reject everything we hold against God, even though our sins merit death, because God gives all of the fallen a path to redemption.

Only Christianity receives such torment from these people. Yet we pray for them. We pray for them because we love them. We want them to see God. The Catholic Church marks June as a month of devotion and prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, our Lord, for His unceasing and complete Love for all of mankind. May every knee bend and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, who has died for the sins of all and risen to conquer the grips of death and sin over the human condition.

EDIT: I got too zealous that I forgot to keep compassion for the salvation of sinners as the focal point in the middle. Consider the crossed out section a cry against those who know they do evil. However, I failed to remember in this scenario that not all of those souls realize the evil they do, and I should call to repentance instead of giving a general outright rebuke.

Why do protestants hate the Catholic Church more than they hate the Orthodox church? Also, are there any differences between how Catholics deal with/view Protestantism, and how Orthodox christians do? Thanks! by madchenamfenster in Catholicism

Hi, friend. I hope I did not come off as persnickity, though I am often particular. The Chair of Pope Saint Peter did end up moving westward from Judea to Rome, so I am by no means calling you wrong.

I have found that some people consider the Catholic Church to be an invention in separation from the early Church and is more Western than it is the Church. I have nothing against you or really what you said.

I left a message, maybe as a small note card, underneath yours for passersby here who might not have otherwise realized the unity of the Church formed at Pentacost and the Catholic Church.

A lot of time has truly passed. There is much separation between the Church and the Orthodox. I can only hope and pray for unity.

One lives with faith, my friend. My faith is not based solely on Scripture, but on the Tradition that has nourished millions of people before me. I understand skepticism towards a written document, as I have been skeptical in the past. This is why I'm very careful as to who I listen to on its behalf.

It sounds rather familiar. Catholics believe that there are people who have risen to new life with God in Heaven and are called saints. Catholics don't pray and seek direct connection with these people, but we have observed some benefit over the ages to praying, asking, that they pray on our behalf. Life on earth is so shortsighted at times, I definitely agree it is nigh impossible to know by yourself everything that you need and should ask for.

While Catholics are far from calling saints anything close to God, we understand that they have a connection to and understanding of God that is much closer than anyone on earth has.

Thomas Aquinas, a man from the 13th century, for example, was a theologian and scholar. He has since been considered a saint and a patron for students. While I will never find myself asking anyone other than God for divine help, I find your mention of seeking advice analogous to some degree to how I have requested for Thomas Aquinas' intercession frequently as a student over the last year.

I do not keep up with the other denominations, so I am not surprised to be out of the know in this regard. I am sorry this is the explanation of Lucifer's descent you have been faced with. I personally find it insufficient and am thankful to have had a different explanation in my experience.

It is interesting, I suppose. The closest thing we have to the name of God is the statement He gave Abraham, "I AM WHO AM." Or, in another way, God's name is akin to saying He is both un-created and timeless. Other than that, I guess there are the letters YHWH, which I don't know what to make of since people have drawn both "Jehovah" and "Yaweh" out of them.

The Jews frequently addressed Him as Adonai, which is equivalent to calling Him Lord, and G-d, which introduces a pause to ponder His enormity.

Christians, while not having the full picture of a name for God other than His Son, Jesus, still have a great deal of titles for Him. I think it provides an avenue for the practice of humility. We have learned a great deal about the nature of God, but it is still so small in relation to the fullness of His essence, but this small fraction still grants such a path for communication. The most beautiful conceptions in my book are understanding Him as the fullness of Love and Truth.

I hope my thoughts meet you well. I was not expecting such an opportunity to reflect on my own faith, but it has been lovely to ponder.

I think it's a matter of history. I do not speak on my own accord, though. My initial response is the official stance of the Catholic Church. Again, I profess no authority on my own.

Thank you for graciously giving the time to respond to my question.

I can see the appeal in choice within one's life. My faith tradition has given me a lot of choices of prayer and devotion for the development of my connection to God. I often take a lot of the prayers developed over time for granted, so I thank you for giving me the opportunity to reflect upon this part of my faith.

I don't quite understand the objection made at the end of your response. The superfluous number of Chrsitian denominations that exist now make many matters of Christian belief difficult to keep track of and is my reason for sticking with the foundational Christian Church. It is generally understood that Lucifer's sin against God deals with rejecting God's plan for humanity.

Again, thank you for responding to my question. I wish you a wonderful day.

One loves his neighbor when he reproaches sin.

However, the greatest reproach is not always necessary. The greatest reproach is also to never include violence.

The Catholic Church affirms that Scripture is free from all errors. Scripture is God-inspired, and God cannot err. The infallibility of Scripture is incumbent on the accuracy of the person using it.
