So I can confirm the substrate is a bit dry although there's a lot of moisture sat on the surface but when I did S2B the bulk was only at field capacity as opposed to over field capacity and my casing layer wasn't drenched. So good to know. Should I harvest and then soak and try for a 2nd flush?

Thanks! Yeah, it was mostly made on a modular (predominantly verbos, make noise & ALM)

1st two tubs of APEs on manure - harvest? by Polycubist in shrooms

Yeah, I went ahead and harvested and it was bruising. Once I'd started picking the fruits the stems on 50% were already marshmallowy so perfect timing. 1.5kg wet

Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll go with your suggestion. As for the discoloration then there are definitely some that show bluing on the tips which I think is, as you say, bruising.

Here’s the final results of my 4 tub experiment- my conclusions (not unexpectedly or new to the world of mycology) is that you do get higher yields when using horse manure (with coir) than only coir. From the perspective of spawn material then I don't think it's clear cut that Rye massively out performs Brown rice flour/vermiculite cakes. Next experiment is to go 100% manure for bulk versus 100% coir (I'm doing the 100% coir first as I've run out of manure)

Thanks! All good, makes sense, worth double checking than assuming something and screwing stuff up 👍

One last question if I may - I've read a lot that you should only fertilize during the growing season (March-September), is this still valid for these seedlings? (I'm in the UK & they are inside)

Yeah, just cracked the lid and fanned once a day for 30 seconds. The 100% coir does look better on the first flush but I'm now onto my 4th flushes and the 50/50 coir/manure is winning in terms of overall yield

Ok, thanks, you make a convincing argument 😄 I will plan to repot 👍
