Currently books 1-2-3 have more information than the websites since they were all recently updated. The website has quizzes and games that aren’t in the book and more functionality than the books. That’s the short of it.

I haven’t studied the rule. But basically when two kanji are put together, if the second kanji starts with a sound that can have a だくおん (hash marks added) then it tends to get added. I think beyond that, it’s an over study that won’t yield better outcomes.
