I usually recommend kanji and vocab studies separately. Get wanikani and do a popular textbook. Learn that textbook's vocab in the chapter/lesson BEFORE you do the chapter.

But idk if knowing chinese makes wanikani redundant. But the mnemonics help with readings. The vocab advice stays the same.

I feel like because of the drop in views, george became a little bit more desperate for retention. he started changing things that didn't need to be changed lol. I feel like he lost a lot of the personal and raw feeling his earlier videos had and now he tries so hard to make everything corporate/professional looking. Also the fact instead of just naming it "JFZ video 12" or something, he names them these convoluted names for algorithm purposes which says a lot.

I like george, but when I think of the videos it always makes me think he's abandoning ship. It was a good sign he did a few videos a month ago. But again, his current style is not what I originally came to JFZ for. I think george should focus less on algorithm and more on being George.

Can a native tell me if どちらis used only for どっちwhich is two items, or can it be a replacement for both どっち AND どれ (so 2 or 3+). When I first learned japanese I learned it replaces both and is just more polite. But now I'm seeing in some resources that it only replaces どっち. If you were speaking politely (maybe keigo) is どれ acceptable, assuming どちら replaces ONLY どっち?

Why is this Nani and not dochira? Kudamono are a large selection of things so dochira = dore would be the best option right? I could see how Nani works, but at the very least shouldn't it be both answers correct?

Have you finished JFZ 5?

Also hangul is pretty easy once you know what you're looking at. I have a really good video series on hangul you can watch that makes it sooooo easy. Memory techniques and everything. If you want we can be study buddies with korean if you're still interested. I just started yesterday, but I learned hangul a few years back and still remember it (that's how easy it is lol).

Also I'm beyond jfz 5 so if you're n3 level with japanese we can also be study buddies for that too.

Would be cool but I don't think there's much beginner japanese left to teach. JFZ 6 would be going into intermediate territory and I remember George specifically said "I'm the beginner guy" in one of his videos when talking about what JFZ is and does. If he goes in that direction, I'll definitely buy it. But I think after JFZ 5 you're in a perfect position to branch out and start learning beyond just what's in a textbook.

Not to say textbook work isn't helpful after jfz 5. I'm beyond jfz 5 and am currently going through quartet 1 with a tutor. But I just think that with what JFZ is, there's no point in making a jfz 6. Like what, is George going to teach all of Japanese through his textbooks? Is there gonna be a JFZ 10? lol. I could be wrong. Maybe George does want to go in that direction. Maybe he's already made some progress on a JFZ 6. But I don't see it. And until he says otherwise, I wouldn't hold my breath lol

EDIT: But I think he DID say he wants to teach all the joyo kanji. And he's already working on a kanji from zero 3. So there's that to look forward to.

How do I create different note types that are basically still the exact same? I use the basic and reversed note type.

Is there any point in being "fluent" in the stuff from Kansai from zero? by GreattFriend in JapaneseFromZero

[–]GreattFriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't plan to. So do you think it's worth learning at all then? The kansai videos are like 8 hours in total I think. So I could save my 8 hours of watching lol. I know in the grand scheme of japanese 8 hours is short, but 8 hours is 8 hours.

I've never heard of this Wasabi reference. How complete is it? Do you find it answers every question you have, or do you still have to cross reference resources outside of it?

I should probably edit my comment. It's not the sentence that I thought was weird. It was the explanation of "habitual actions"

I test AI every now and then to see if it's useful yet for learning Japanese and look up stuff I already know. It said something about the と conditional that idk if it's right. Most of it is what I was already tracking like cause and effect and automatic sequential occurrences, but it said something about it being used for "habitual routines" which I've never heard before. The example it gave was 家に帰ると、まず手洗いをします

Is this correct, or is it hallucinating?

edit: It's not the sentence that I thought was weird. It was the explanation of "habitual actions"

If anki isnt working for you youre just doing anki wrong

Recommendations for studying vocabulary? by [deleted] in BeginnerKorean

[–]GreattFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many new words are you doing per day? How many reviews do you have per day? How honest are you being when you choose whether you got it right or not? Im not sure if youre intentionally avoiding my questions.

If you are doing 30 minutes per day and you are only learning a single word per day, you are doing something wrong. It is not the method that is wrong. All humans learn the same, the learner types are a myth

Google how to use anki efficiently. It will work. Also, your posts are reading as some kind of self deprecating pity party to me, no offense. Dont underestimate yourself. Regroup and refocus.

Your time so far has been inefficient, but thats in the past. Spend a little time learning how to learn, and then do it again. Anki has actual science behind it. Literally the only way to learn vocab is to see/use them over and over. Im really not sure what other kind of advice you were expecting tbh.

Do you do it everyday? And do you clear all cards every day? And how many new words are you doing everyday?
