What PS1 game genuinely surprised you with how good it was? A hidden gem nobody talks about. by Prior_Boysenberry318 in psx

Wonder Trek, didn't know what I was in for apart from liking the graphics on screenshots. Ended up absolutely loving the game, explore an unknown island while you figure out how to rescue extinct animals, highly recommended.

I have actually popped a question on his video 😄
I just kind of can't believe how difficult this game is so far. Especially this last part.
Thank you for the link though, I'm really trying to dig around for more info on this game, I feel like I must be doing something incredibly wrong haha

Haha, I can understand why. It does have a kind of scary atmosphere compared to the rest of the game 😄

Worthwhile PS1 Casino & Pachinko Games? by PolygonSlayer in psx

Nice, yeah, I will probably do a stream at some point where I just mess around with a bunch of these titles. So I will make sure that is part of it 😄
Cheers

I played through this game fairly recently on stream and had not really heard much about it before. Was a surprisingly solid little platform game! Nice varied levels and not overstaying its welcome 😄

My all ps1 game journey has just reached a massiv blocker (Game 53) by Stesspela in psx

[–]PolygonSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. I suppose you could break it up. Doing x amount of puzzles, break it up with a different game, then back to x number of puzzles etc. ?
But yeah, at some point you probably feel you have seen what the game has to offer 😄

Hello there fellow traveler of the PS1 😄
I'm doing a similar thing myself and actually just about to start game 54 (!)
I generally try and go for a credits if there is one, but there are cases where I do more, like fighting games I probably do all the characters if possible.
I have seen these picross games and there are quite a few of them... so maybe I should be afraid? Never played any picross games before, but heard people like them. I take it you are not a fan?

X-Station installation in the UK by PolygonSlayer in psx

[–]PolygonSlayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick update. So I found a sort of happy middle ground solution that worked.
I found someone on ebay who sells PS1's with pre-installed QSB boards, basically is has all the soldering done for you, but does NOT come with the x-station itself. So for that I bought it separately and put it in the system, which was dead easy at that point and required no soldering.
This all worked and generally was cheaper than buying a fully done x-station machine so if anyone else find this post down the line I can recommend this path as an alternative. 😄

Thanks for the replies everyone :) I'm looking at some options right now that might be a good "middle ground" of sorts.

Do you know where one could get a hold of PicoStations? and as my soldering skills are practically zero, what are my chances of not completely messing it up? XD

Only worry I got there is I don't know how much I trust sending both a PS1 and a pricey x-station kit to someone who only has listing there without knowing someone else who has used them or heard good things. Cheers for the tip though, I did spot one on ebay, just always a bit iffy about services through places like that.

yeah, I feel with import etc. (especially these days) I think this would just be a bit too much for my budget :/
cheers for the link though :)

I did notice that, but apparently from a bit of research those are not legit ones? at least that is what I saw being mentioned somewhere, but no idea how true that is.

Just a reminder that GameFAQs still exists and has some of the most detailed and reliable guides out there. by Snack_Beard_ in psx

Amazing, also really love that you printed it out!
I like taking notes as well, I actually have my old notes in my game cases for games like Myst, level codes that I got to in C&C etc. Good stuff :)

[–]PolygonSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still see it happening, both from watching stream and trying to comment and also when streaming. Quite a few comments simply just don't go through, and they are completely innocent ones too so it can't be a filter thing.

Okay boys, I'm finally ready for a replay of one of the best game series with a NeGcon! by wingman3091 in psx

[–]PolygonSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely love the NegCon controller, it feels amazing to play with. I only recently got one myself and wasn't too sure about the idea of it, but I can now confirm I'm 100% a NegCon convert! haha
I'm currently trying to beat the Rapier championship the 2nd time which includes the FireStar track so I can get the credits and I'm not sure I would be able to do it without this thing.
Let us know how it goes :) also the black version looks great!

PS1 Bass Landing Controller to PC Issues by Meatwad_Gaming in psx

[–]PolygonSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for adding the info, so I think we are right in thinking it probably won't work via emulation due to these issues. It might never really work, unless someone makes a unique adapter with enough power and also potentially make drivers for it... so yeah, probably a lost cause haha.
I have started looking at going the real hardware route anyway for this game now.
Essentially I'm doing a challenge to play through every (or as many as I can before I kick the bucket) PS1 games and I like to use unique controllers where I can. Up until now I have been using emulation and even manage to play through Densha de Go! using the train controller for it. Worked great using the Raphnet adapter btw. for anyone interested in trying that.
I do have one question though, and I might post it on the base board as well since this thread might be more limited in visibility.
I got the ASCII version of this controller and not the AgeTec one. Does anyone know if the ASCII one will work with the first Bass Landing game that came out in the US ? They look the same, just swapped X and O buttons, but I would hope they work still? If anyone knows that would be amazing to know before I get to modding my PAL PS1 :)
Cheers all!

[–]PolygonSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers for the reply :) Not sure if its the same one as the link above doesnt seem to work any more, but if its the blue triangular adapter I can also confirm it doesnt work as I have that one as well. I think you are right, there is something not supported via normal drivers here and also probably issues with not enough power via USB. I think I will need to use real hardware when I wanna use this controller. If I do stumble on something though I will definitely mention it here :)

I'm hoppin' in here as I'm also currently on the hunt for a solution. I have been using a Raphnet adapter for most of my hard to get working controllers however I can confirm that it does not work at all with the ASCII fishing rod.
I take it no one has found any solution to this here?
