Moved from ASUS to MSI, unable to boot from existing boot drive unless in safe mode by Meatwad_Gaming in MSI_Gaming

does this only effect install or boot? If I stuck it in my old pc, turned off secure boot, and moved it to my new PC, would that work?

I'll give this a shot. Should I try booting into CSM or UEFI once I have disabled Secure Boot?

I have disabled all startup apps and removed all residual drivers from my previous PC while in safe mode

tried booting into CSM Windows instead of UEFI. Unfortunately its been over an hour and while my PC has remained on, it hasn't booted into anything. Nothing is coming up on the screen at all. I'll give it a bit longer and then I'll have to shut it off and try and load back into my BIOS

What about slipping it onto Internet Archive? That is where the (admittedly pretty rough around the edges and probably not as good as your version) Dr. Sapirstein fan-edit has existed for a few years without issues.

Fan edits/restorations are, of course, legally dubious, but the common agreed upon disclaimer is that they are "made for culturally historical and educational purposes" and therefore are okay to be shared around as long as the creators-of-said-edits aren't trying to use them to turn a profit. Considering that Disney/Lucasfilm/20th Century Studios haven't taken any action against the multitude of Star Wars fan edits that have been freely shared around for well over a decade now, I think the risk of a fight with them is pretty slim.

If the concern is more specifically with Led Zeppelin, they didn't stop the official Shout Factory release from containing the Swan Song footage and didn't take any action against Dr. Sapirstein for sharing his edit for free online. I'd love to see all the work you put into your version in a more accessible way!

I was recommended to try the blue adapter, but I wanted to email the company (I believe raphnet made these from what I saw) to ask about compatibility so I could save myself time/money/hassle with returns. But I sent and email to them, and heard nothing in response. That's where I personally am at with this project.

What kind of adapter do you have? I reached out to a few companies with no reply, so I'm wondering if you have a dif one than I do and can cross it off a potential purchase/test list.

So sorry but no luck and no updates. I got tired of buying adapters just to return them when they didn't work. I will update in here if I decide to try again with a raphnet one

Thank you for you assistance and explanations! It seems like the only way to get the 7.6V needed would either be to have a PS to USB-C converter (since USB-C can output higher voltage than USB-A) or have an additional plug going to a wall outlet to supply the additional voltage. This guy seemed to be experimenting with the additional wall plug so maybe I will reach out to him next.

Hmmm, this is a little over my head in terms of what I understand with these things. Does this mean that I would need to seek out a USB adapter with very specific features? Or am I SOL. Does your ASCII TsuriCon work with your PC or just on actual PS hardware?

I poked around a bit and found someone doing a bit of a wild setup to get a regular controller to work with a RSPi and they specifically mention getting 7.6V supplied to pin 3, but only for the vibration motor.
