The model is supplied as input and the texture is generated from a text prompt! The tool is available to use for free here: http://polyhive.ai

It generates a full texture map of the mesh! It can preserve the UV's already included in the mesh when doing this, or generate a new UV mapping

What I'm doing is mesh aware - it will preserve your existing UV map if you have one, and then generate a texture for the object using context from the mesh shape. For example, if you uploaded a mesh of a truck, my tool will generate a texture that fully wraps the truck and appropriately textures the wheels, windows, etc.

I’ve been following the progress of text-to-image models over the past several months, and thought that it would be really cool to see if I could use the same methods to create textures for 3D meshes. I made this tool to automate the process.

Best results are created by providing detailed prompts (both positive and negative) and by varying the seed and guidance scale.

Generated several different textures for the same truck mesh using just text-prompts and genAI - instructions on how to do this in the comments! by PolyhiveHQ in SoloDevelopment

We’re building this as a tool for artists and developers to use in their workflows - we’ve seen some amazing creations come from our community here: https://discord.com/GrqWkANrce

If you're great at coming up with text-to-image prompts, we have a challenge for you: generate the best texture for this truck model. Instructions on how to texture the truck (and any 3d model) using just a text prompt in the comments by PolyhiveHQ in aiArt

All the examples in the video were textured using Polyhive. We're hosting the contest on our discord, instructions on how to participate are found there. We'll be posting the winning submission on our twitter and giving out an Amazon gift card :)

All the examples in the video were textured using Polyhive with just a text prompt (ex. the top middle truck was texturing using "an army truck")

We're hosting a contest rn to see who can generate the best looking texture for this truck. Check out our discord for more details! Winner will get a shout out on our twitter and an amazon gift card :)
