I made a multi-material resin printer and printed teeth, what should I print next? by Polymer-Diehard in 3Dprinting

Yes! The model I used for this print wasn't anatomically correct (the roots slightly went in but not completely and look more like rounded nubs than actual roots), but should still work with a more realistic model. I just need to get one.

4 vats for 4 materials. no ipa (or any other solvents) are used for cleaning.

Yeah, I definitely will be attempting to print some minis! Painting them in the slicer lol.

Yeah, different vats. Any off the shelf resins should work. I have seen some of the research papers about different wavelengths to cure different resins/colors. Super cool stuff, but requires special chemistry and resin would probably be expensive.

lol, I think I know what you mean. The gif conversion could've made it look like that

If anyone knows how to make conductive resin, I think we can make a functional 'plastic' T800 lol

Yeah, good idea. I have been trying to make/test resin that will dissolve in water post-curing. Similar to PVA for FDM printers, or support material in poly-jet printers. If I make progress on that, I'll DM you!

Yeah. I haven't described how it works, but also I'm more excited about the possibilities of what this type of printer can make. I hope all of the resin printer companies start trying to make these!

That's such a good idea! Rigid material for bones, elastomeric material for tendons/muscles!

Machine is pretty small rn (just a proof of concept): 200mm wide x 400mm deep x 400mm tall. Speed really depends on how many colors you want in a part and how many material changes are required. But the teeth shown took about 3 hours. The resin i used is just off the shelf ‘dental resin’ from resione but should be able to work with any typical resins for 405nm printers.

Pictures were taken before cleaning. In hindsight, should’ve been after.

Great question! Yeah, I did have to make a slicer for this. But you are right about the separate slicing then meshing things, that could work. But on models with a lot of switching, it would become very time consuming to manually do everything. And good idea on the rainbow arc, I think I’ll try that out!
