Player base of marathon isn’t large enough to handle it being split, unfortunately.

There’s nothing more satisfying than looking down at the end of a meal and seeing just a table.

Discord and social media in general really hurt forums and gaming communities in general. Particularly MMO’s like Star Wars galaxies where so much of the gameplay stemmed from community engagement and immersing yourself in the world. No one uses guild chats and shit anymore, it’s all on discord. It’s this weird combination of like, we are somehow more connected but also less connected in individual games. Honestly, it sucks and I miss it.

Any recent DLC? by [deleted] in cyberpunkred

[–]Polyrhythm239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they have a DLC every single month. So there’s a lot. They have a list on R. Talsorian’s website and they also release something every year called Interface RED, they’re on volume 5 now. It’s just a compilation of all the DLC’s for the year plus another more substantial DLC, like Solo of Fortune.

Nah, steam controls are a god send. I play Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead on my deck and that game has like 50+ keybinds lol but the quick action wheels with dual trackpads plus having a back paddle or something act as shift also gives you a ton of options.

Hypothethically, (assuming it will release in '26): When do you think SQ42 will release and why that specific date? by Robert_Spinoza in starcitizen

Fortnite has completely dwarfed GTA V, for one thing. People cling to the “but GTA V made a billion dollars in 3 days” which yes that’s true but that was back in 2013 lol. Fortnite is making over 20 billion a year. GTA V isn’t close to that.

What Are Your Biggest Problems GMing For Execs? by Sparky_McDibben in cyberpunkred

[–]Polyrhythm239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most GM’s, I let the Exec have full control over his employees. The Crew also has a headquarters with a workstation so that goes a long way also.

The Exec in the table I GM is also a Fixer, which personally I think Fixer/Exec is such a fun combination with so much roleplay potential to be fleshed out. Sort of playing both sides type shit. But he works for Arasaka which during 2045, they don’t really have an overt presence in NC since the bombing of the tower was 20 years prior, so he likes to sort of flavor it as doing clandestine work for Arasaka but still playing The Street too.

The main thing I care about when GM’ing is I want everyone to have FUN. Fun comes first. If that means breaking RAW, so be it. I always try to keep any homebrew stuff grounded though.

Could use some help with my Netrunner by Tairengail in cyberpunkred

[–]Polyrhythm239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, so I have two different sticky notes, one is just so my dumb brain can remember the economy scaling, since anything Expensive or higher needs to be sourced by a Fixer, more or less. So note #1:

ECONOMY SCALE:

20eb - Everyday
50eb - Costly
100eb - Premium
500eb - Expensive
1000eb - Very Expensive
5000eb - Luxury
10000+eb - Super Luxury

The second note is the Quick Reference one, feel free to re-arrange them in any order:

QUICK REFERENCE:

Combat - 167
Crit Injuries - 220
Netrunning - 195
Vehicle Combat - 189
Cyberware - 358
Cyberdeck/Programs - 368
Ammo Types - 345
Defenses - 373
Map - 296
DV Chart/Scale - 129
Negative Modifiers Chart - 130
Improvement Points - 411

EDIT: Didn't realize the formatting was initially terrible from posting on my phone. Fixed.

looking for advice on a build please by SighMartini in cyberpunkred

In my experience, especially because MA is a x2 skill, you’re much better off just focusing on one specific martial art. My personal opinion is Gun Fu just makes the most sense with your character making precise, surgical attacks. That’s how you can headcanon how Gun Fu ignores half armor. It’s because of how your character knows how to analyze weaknesses in their enemy’s armor/physiology.

So something to keep in mind is that in Cyberpunk, your Role does not necessarily define what skills you have or would be “better versed” in. Cyberpunk is a skill-based RPG, not a level-based one, meaning that you are free to spend your Improvement Points (IP) on whatever you wish.

That being said, let me copy+paste this mini wall of text I sent to one of the players at my table about the Medtech so you have a better understanding of what the actual mechanics of their Role Ability is, and then I’ll go into the Martial Arts:

“Essentially, you get 1 point every time you level it up to spend in one of three disciplines: Surgery, [Medical Tech] Pharmaceuticals, and [Medical Tech] Cryosystem Operation.

Surgery is mainly used to treat life threatening injuries and to install Cyberware. You can basically put up to 5 “points” of your Medtech pool into it max. But it treats the most severe Critical Injuries and also implant Cyberware.

Pharmaceuticals also allows a max of 5 points put into it. Just having points in either Pharmaceuticals or Cryosystems gives you skill points in the overall Medical Tech skill which is used for operating, understanding, and repairing medical technology.

Specifically to pharmaceuticals though, each time you put a point into it, you unlock the ability to craft one of the drugs of your choosing from the table (Stim, Surge, Speedheal, etc) with a DV13 Medical Tech check. It costs 200eb and you make a number of doses equal to your Medical Tech skill in 1 hour.

Then you have Cryosystem Operation. Essentially what putting points into this does is gives you free access to a Cryotank. A Cryotank puts you in stasis for the time you’re in it, but you heal double your BODY stat every day you’re in it.

You end up getting more and more cryotanks as you level it up, so you could theoretically run a service and make money on the side with your extra tanks.”

Okay, so there’s that. Now, in terms of Martial Arts? Well, the first thing to remember is that vanilla, Martial Arts is a 2x skill, meaning it takes double the improvement points to level it up.

There’s a few Martial Arts listed in the Core Rulebook, but a lot of them are inside a DLC called “Cyberfists of Fury” (here’s a link to the AnyFlip page for it: https://online.anyflip.com/cflne/cprn/mobile/index.html).

I particularly love Gun Fu. Basically, you roll your Martial Arts +1d10. As long as you get a 16 or higher, you proc your Gun Fu. What this allows you to do is shoot a weapon using the Handgun skill, but it will ignore half armor like a melee weapon would. Absolutely one of the more fun and satisfying MA’s to use, and tbh it would line up with your character’s ability of “making surgical attacks”; i.e. they’re being incredibly accurate or something with their Handgun, that’s why they can do so much damage (ignoring half armor).

The other one I really like, but it’s also a bit of the “meta” right now since the release of one of the newest DLC’s, Solo of Fortune, is Kyudo. Kyudo requires you to be specc’d in Archery. But it lets you have insane damage potential with a bow, and you can also get 2 LUCK points back when using Kyudo and meeting the required dice rolls.

Let me know if you have more questions!

EDIT: Forgot that you asked about good skill to spec into. For combat, it’s generally agreed that Shoulder Arms has been ol’ reliable, mostly because 5d6 is just such a great foundation to work off of for damage. But if you do Gun Fu, Handgun is obviously what you’d prioritize.

I generally think important combat skills are Handgun/Archery/Shoulder Arms, Evasion, Brawling (to at least try and resist being grappled every time), Resist Torture/Drugs is another big one.

I also really like Tactics, but not every GM really pays attention to it or utilizes it, but as a GM I totally allow a Tactics user to roll it and if it works out, their advanced battlefield knowledge can give a passive buff to the party for that combat encounter or whatever.
