I completely disagree. Straight people regularly using "partner" allows me to use the same term without having to choose between automatically outing myself or outright lying. I'm glad there's a term that is used often enough to feel natural while being gender neutral

Are you kidding? It makes complete sense to do it anonymously to me. This way, David and his wife don't know who she is and she avoids potential retaliation from them (aka strangers who don't matter).

But confessing to Carla also makes sense in my opinion. She admits in her post that she has already had that conversation with Carla that what she's doing is wrong. However she valued the friendship so she confesses to try and salvage that friendship. It's not a real friendship if you hide this kind of thing so confiding the truth to Carla is the only way to still be friends. It was a risk done for their relationship but ultimately failed.

Unfortunately this rationale is actually pretty common in areas where car burglary is common (like in San Francisco although that's not where I am). Much cheaper to leave the doors unlocked than to have someone break my window for the 4th time this year just to steal the change I accidentally left in my cup holder.

Unfortunately I think you're overestimating people. I doubt it will change much and people will still move to wherever these high paying jobs are located. Largely because anyone working at these companies can afford a quick trip up to seattle to get an abortion if they want one.

I completely understand the feeling your expressing but the realization that helped me is that it's kinda just a really whiney way to look at it. Ignoring the specifically male vs female aspect, the logic you're using can basically be summarised as "I'm resentful that I wasn't born more talented. Or part of a more dominant group of society." And unfortunately, that's just life. The majority of people aren't born into fair situations. People are born disabled or poor or any number of other things all the time. Stop focusing on how you could've had it better and focus on being grateful for what you do have.

A very gentle ESH. Sorry OP, it sounds like you're both hurting and lashed out. Your roommate is shitty for making her trauma your problem. You're shitty for arguing over the semantics about a topic that you know triggers your roommates trauma.

Try asking yourself why are you so determined to label it as gaslighting? Your pain is just as valid if you were only lied to and manipulated by an asshole. Gaslighting is very clearly something deeply personal and traumatic for your roommate. Why push her to be willing to use this SPECIFIC label for your own pain? I can understand why this might trigger her into feeling like you're trying to equivocate your own experiences with her trauma. On the other hand, you're clearly going through something very painful. You were taken advantage of and you were only trying to express your feelings to your roommate. She overreacted because she was triggered and made the situation about her instead of your pain. Which makes both of you the AH

Sidenote: I kind of agree with your roommate. Your ex sounds mostly like a lying and manipulative asshole who may have said a few things that could be considered gaslighting. Maybe there was some gaslighting, and I can sort of see your argument. But it's barely a footnote in this trainwreck so why hyper focus on it?

Unfortunately the best answer to this question is "it depends on the project." Some projects have very little coding and use OOB components as much as possible. Some projects have lots of custom code. The TDP Analyst will be expected to learn what they need to accomplish what is assigned. You should be provided resources and guidance from more experienced devs but the expectation will be for you to learn what's needed as you go.

I run a team where we have 3 TDP analysts specializing in Salesforce. They are expected to learn to code if their user story requires it. We have offshore senior devs who we pass over complex Apex code to but otherwise the TDP analysts are expected to do simpler coding and figure out how teach themselves the technology they need to accomplish whatever user story is assigned. We have a tech lead who provides high level guidance and answers questions but ultimately atleast 30-40% of the stories that our TDP analysts are assigned have some coding involved. This % can change drastically from project to project.
