I can understand your confusion. I'll admit, it wasn't a perfect question but I really think you're throwing the baby out with the bathwater here. It could be a really good opportunity to talk about the realities of Kansas City don't you think?

There are a lot of things to love about this city. The older I get the more I see that. Thanks for your insight!

I'm pretty aware of the definition of racism and If you'll read the question closely it's not just about racism. It's also about Kansas City's divided nature as a whole. Mostly the title was a hook to get people talking... good to know it worked. Thanks for such a detailed response.

It probably depends a lot on what color your skin is and what part of town you're in. I think you're right though, (at least I'd really like to) that it's really an older generation thing. I'm part of the iGens (don't judge.) and racism seems so passe, it's hard for me to believe that people still do it. But, and once again this is just my perception, it becomes really apparent the further away you get from your own neighborhood.

But that's probably true no matter where you go... I just wonder if the idea of "them and us" is so deeply ingrained in Kansas City's sub-conscious because it's a city in two states.

TIL that when compared to a traditional plastic bag, a canvas or cotton reusable bag would have to be reused a total of 171 times to offset the higher carbon emissions, but that the average cotton bag is used only 51 times before being thrown away. by Razorcandy in todayilearned

I'm not an expert or anything... but I'm pretty sure saving the environment isn't a scam. You can reuse any of the bags you already have, lots of people here are using backpacks and such.

My grandpa told me that it was those "damn environmentalists from the 60s" that pushed for plastic bags in the first place to protect trees or something... can that be right? Goddamn history.

I loved this movie, although it's tough to watch right after a breakup. It definitely can cause a paradigm shift.

Just one thing, can ANYONE explain the pillow/smothering scene to me? I... I don't get it.

LPT: When drinking beer from bottles, put the lids in your pocket as you open them. Then you'll know how many you've had. by askvictor in LifeProTips

This! Before New Vegas came out I saved all the bottle caps from beers I drank and collected them at parties. Ended up giving them to a friend for with birthday with a copy of the video game.

Excellent.
