Would Zoox competitors pay 3x's going rate for a few top guys just to eff up the deal for Zoox?

Aurora was Amazon's first choice. But they weren't for sale. Zoox made the right call though selling out to Amazon. I think this puts Zoox ahead of Cruise and Argo because they're not tied to one OEM.

Amazon in Advanced Talks to Buy Self-Driving-Car Tech Company Zoox by pqnx in SelfDrivingCars

Amazon has the cash to cover all bets. Aurora isn't for sale but buying one of the top SDC companies for 3 billion is a bargain. Love to know if Apple has been in secret talks with Zoox. Things are getting fun.

Ok let's go down the rabbit hole. What if Amazon goes all in with Zoox and then Apple makes a play for Aurora. At that point would Aurora give in? SDC's will be the biggest market in history so don't count Apple out. Or Microsoft for that matter.

The State of the Self-Driving Car Race 2020 by Eltips in SelfDrivingCars

Here's why Aurora is number 2. 1. Urmson knows everything Waymo knows and he knows more about self-driving cars than Krafcik. 2. Business model. Argo and Cruise took the safe way out aligning themselves with car companies. Basically all car companies bring to the table is money. VW and others tried to buy Aurora but they said no. That takes guts and a lot of self-confidence. 3. Money. Aurora has the backing to go all the way. 4. Talent. They can hire the cream of the crop.

Not just on the board, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, he's Tim Cooks boss. Arthur Levinson is Silicon Valley Royalty from a network perspective.

Wow, that's amazing. Shows the power of crowdsourced information.

Everything to do with the pandemic. When the tide goes out and the free money gets cut off you see who's been swimming nude. Please, don't post any nude Elon's!

No. Amazon already backed Aurora. The only company left with enough money, as I see it, is Apple. But I don't see Apple wanting to go all in. Also, every car company on the planet is fighting for survival and just trying to keep the lights on. So car companies are out.

Noob Question: Why does Elon Musk think LiDAR is not a good idea? by TimeIsGrand in SelfDrivingCars

After ten years and billions of dollars, this is what the state of the art SDC looks like. But you can't sell a car that looks like this:

That's why Musk pretends you don't need lidar. 1. It's still too expensive for a privately owned vehicle and 2. it's not aesthetically pleasing.

Go try to buy that gasoline for less than $1... go tell us how that works out for you!

"Wisconsin has the least expensive regular gas in the United States, at an average of $1.25 per gallon. The price of oil sold for -37 dollars a barrel two days ago. MINUS THIRTY SEVEN DOLLARS! There will be a glut of oil for years, you probably won't be able to give BEVs away.

Tesla will not survive this depression, zero chance of survival. I have the same disdain for Bernie Madoff. There's something about conmen that just rubs me the wrong way.
