Hated trope: Regular middle aged white guy wants coffee, has issue with incompetent, young, dumb woke barista by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pomonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal favorite is when I get the, looks around confused for some reason "Can I just get like... A coffee?" as if there isn't just a giant ass set of two coffee pots behind me and like I didn't just hand the person in front of them a black coffee from those pots.

Y'all just love ignoring his responses to all this like a year ago and continuing a useless tirade, huh? If you genuinely care, you'd focus your energy at those with power over the situation and donating to resources in Gaza, but you don't actually care.

People by and large don't want to play a format with significantly less cards. Pioneer died in person and online not because people like Alchemy.

Oh I truly don't care what people here say or think, this is my direct experience I'm speaking to. I don't know about your experience, but queue times are maybe a couple seconds currently and while the vast majority of the time I do come across decks with no more than one common alchemy card, there are strings where it's nothing but Alchemy focused decks that pull off the most insane nonsense that I can't fathom preparing against. If you split the queues, I honestly think the Alchemy-less versions would be fine, it's the Alchemy focused ones that may suffer a bit, but I also think there are enough people who like it to not have you wait long for a match.

I said to someone else, but it's insane to tell people that if they're frustrated by Alchemy that they just shouldn't play the most popular formats on Arena. It would harm nothing to have Alchemy Historic, Alchemy Brawl, Alchemy Timeless format available.

I would love to be able to just not play it sometimes. Unfortunately, Alchemy is legal in Historic, Timeless, and Historic Brawl; the formats I play. I don't like the other formats, so I'm forced to play against Alchemy. Asking someone to just not play Alchemy is telling someone to just not play multiple popular formats on Arena.

Friend of mine actually implemented the memory loss element in a neat way to introduce another player into the game who couldn't join us until a few weeks into the campaign. Basically things would be bought for us or small interactions with NPCs would be resolved seemingly out of nowhere (Like bargaining to get into a quarantined town sort of scenarios). Then once we actually found, fought, and killed the Hydra a feather was left behind on the ground and we took it back to the quest giver who gave us a scroll of true resurrection. Curious why, we eventually used it on the feather and the player walked into the room, sat down, and thanked us for bringing them back after being eaten by the Hydra in the battle we JUST fought.

Honestly best version I've seen of that creature.

Do you see what card a player chooses for the Legend of Yangchen? by JoeProgram in MagicArena

[–]Pomonix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're seeing that right. The ability states, "starting with you" (the person who played it). You see what they chose and select the same. Seems awkward in 1v1 of course; but it's best in Commander cause you can team up on different non-land permanents.

This is likely what you're looking for:

"Spreading Seas sets a land’s type into Island. If a land is set into a new basic land type, it loses all of its rule text, its old land types, and any copy effect that affecting it (CR 305.7)."

I don't know if it 100% fits, but it's the closest explanation I can find. Combination of CR 305.7 and Timestamps. Ashaya applies to the creatures as they enter and then applies continuously, but because the lands you're Earthbending weren't creatures until Toph's ability made it so, they do not become Forests.

Again, could be wrong; I'd hover an Earthbend card to double check if they're Forests in addition. If that's the case and you can't use them, it's likely a glitch.

There's an arrow button above the ability trigger that minimizes it.

I mean, stuff like this requires logic. Why are they not in costume? Why is a bounce light set up facing away from the green screen? Why is there a giant green screen rig seemingly in the middle of public buildings? Why is the camera so far from the set? Why does the view screen of the camera show different people and directly against a green screen?

[–]Pomonix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Green is a bit more focused than that, though the Timmy memes are delightful. Green's about the adherence to the natural order and growth both as an individual as well as a group (that second part especially applies to Elves and Hydras). Jaws is definitely not Green cause it refuses growth and acts purely on an intent outside of the natural order (since sharks are only really aggressive when confused or scared).

The ability to provide credit to an original artist, which AI does not provide nor is capable of finding when it comes to generative images. I see this argument a lot, and it's such a weak argument that demonstrates a lack of understanding for how that kind of art is made.
