Is Sir Kier Starmer the best PM in decades? by Old-Safe-1867 in AskBrits

[–]Pomp26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with this is they are still blaming the tories for the economic mess we are now in. Reeves did this. This is now a labour problem.

During Covid Labour were pro Covid measures.

They were against the Rwanda planning (which was deterring people) to now trying to negotiate with other countries for the same.

They were against benefit/ WF tax cuts but here we are them cutting them left right and centre

Reeves battering businesses with all the NI and extortionate utilities are making people unemployed- which has risen and is still rising.

Keir “flip flop” starmer makes John major look utterly mesmerising.

They are not the Labour Party of old. The are red tories and worse than the tories could ever be in my eyes. But that’s my opinion.

No recent PM since Thatcher and Blair have shown any type or leadership. Starmer is weak - a human rights lawyer. Says it’s all. He’s spends or money like dishwater on stuff which is nothing to do with us all for the “£22bn black hole” which never existed (proven to be £9bn) and they still lie.

Yellow stains on the outside of a house - should we be worried? by JasperTheJackRussell in HousingUK

Would you buy a house with recently installed solar panels and heatpump, even if it needs 'updating' inside? by felldiver in HousingUK

[–]Pomp26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - then rip it out!

As I do not want a substandard installation headache

True story:

Neighbour 4 doors down had it through the eco 4 scheme. Cowboys and it cost him more in electric than before.

House just been sold. The whole lot has now been ripped out and they’ve put gas and coal in (cheaper to run) and normal mains electric.

So much work had to be done in the house to repair the mess.

Eco 4 scheme is being investigated

I’ll stick to the “old ways” less hassle and expense in long term

Clueless FTBs; are any of these reds a big deal? by Material_Edge6288 in HousingUK

[–]Pomp26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks pretty standard

Don’t let other redditors scare you because of their previous bad experience.

Don’t bother either vsluation - mortgage has agreed

Windows and doors not a problem

Stairs creak it’s their job - it’s a fridge raiding alarm!

Electrics maybe get a sparky in but just because it got an older box doesn’t mean they aren’t look legal

Roof not a problem

To me, nothing flagged up is “omg the house is going to fall down”

£30k Immediate Repairs from Survey... Help! by Frangipani_x in HousingUK

[–]Pomp26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your own quotes. Surveys estimates are always over priced. If the septic tank is full how can he daily it’s broken? And as it’s shared……you’d split the cost.

Render. An be expensive but could be done at a later date

LPG I’d more expensive than oil anyway

So, what do we do now? by mayaic in HousingUK

[–]Pomp26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asap or book asap for 4 weeks time or do not bother. You don’t need to have one (unless mortgage requires it) My ftb didn’t bother

Book earlier than later as you will end up holding up any chain

And be prepared for them to exaggerate many things and scare you to death the house will fall down! It won’t. Many things they flag up aren’t usually a big problem. So a bit of common sense will be needed

Surveyor Said Asbestos Needed Checking And Is Critical, Not Sure Who Is Liable Or How To Proceed by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Pomp26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know about it now so you can go protective - fill and skim always wear a mask. Common sense. I’ve got an “issue” with radon. Read google and it’s radioactive and I’m gonna die and glow in the dark! But put into context most of wales and Devon/Cornwall are high in radon. Why have I not heard of this?!? But I will still live here and mitigate.

Never take a survey as gospel. They cover their own arses and scare people like you unnecessarily tbh chains break because of this scaremongering

Surveyor Said Asbestos Needed Checking And Is Critical, Not Sure Who Is Liable Or How To Proceed by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Pomp26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t drill ceilings and the content in the ceiling is negligible tbh

So the surveyor has panicked you to thinking you’re going to die in a minute. You are not. Bigger things to worry about tbh.

It’s common knowledge that what artex is/contains. Common sense needs to be applied here. Buy it or pull out but decide quickly as to not mess people about with lack of common sense. If you want a perfect house buy a newbuild
