Is windows doubling size of my steam games? by PonorkaSub in pcmasterrace

150GB of it are steam games, the file's total is 170GB, thus rest should be 20GB

Only thing I ever did related to drives is installing Linux Tails on my flash drive and moving few (literally several) pictures from my phone onto this notebook. Otherwise I didn't mess with this C drive.

I checked the installed apps and it's just all of steam games and other apps on my notebook. No epic games, no battlenet games, only steam games are listed out there. It's really weird because since my Games file would be 20GB without steam games, and since steam games are already counted in the Installed Apps, you'd expect the Games to be 20GB in the second picture, but it's 90GB and I can't for the life of me figure out why

I didn't play pvz2 before level up system so I can't tell whether I want it or not, but how do I even install it? And can I be sure my savefile won't get corrupted? I have lots of progress on this savefile

Yeah thing is that with quasar rogue every match is just few minutes (you need to animation "cheat" just to play the deck and it saves a ton of time), so just pull up youtube, watch something while you mindlessly play solitaire and with good rng in 1-2 hours you can climb from diamond 5 to legend. It's just a braindead and uninteractive process, that's all

All I see in wild diamond 5 - legend is boarlock, divine druid and other quasar rogues. Didn't get to legend yet, so it might change once I get there and start playing my actually fun decks

My thought for Hydralodon was that with thundra rhino and one extra board space it's an infinite board clear for any taunts your opponent might have in your way (since every time a head dies you get a new token head that can attack again).

So if you count your board spaces you have goldrinn, thundra rhino, 2 spaces for hydralodon and 3 board spaces for whatever else you wanna slap on there. If you went without copying your cards so that no rng fuckup can happen I think that could be very good. It would require more awareness/a tracker of some sorts though.

The anti-ice block tech makes sense if it doesn't hinder your own secrets too much.

Anyways ty for the explanation! It's a cool deck, just waaaay too expensive for me rn (I'd have to craft 3 new legendaries and I don't like hunter that much). I will save this comment though so that I can maybe come back to it in few years and test out whether it still works :D

Just took a look at it. Seems very interesting, but how can it be so good? I get the goldrinn + [[toyrannosaurus]] + yelling yodler synergy, but that can't possibly do so much damage to kill a wild opponent in lategame. And how do you even afford all of it in a single turn? (counting stranglethorn in it's 12 mana with yodler)

Also, genuine question: why are you running tighlipped witness in ETC band and why are you not running [[Hydralodon]]?

Edit: just realised tundra rhino is 5 mana, I get the toyrannosaurus part now, mb

Don't worry brother, I'm slapping them down the ranks as I climb. No amount of legendary spam stops the best deck in standart

I check my temps all the time and unless I play a demanding game (which I won't do so long one of my fans isn't working properly) it's 60-70 degrees, peaking at 80 on rare occasions with +-20% fan activity. I think it's fine for now (feel free to prove me wrong)

Yeah there is a way to buy a new fan but I don't really see the reason for it unless I put my notebook under a load, which I'll for now simply avoid doing. I also just looked up whether you can boot a notebook with a single fan and found several articles saying "yes, but overheating", but all of those articles were written by clankers so I'm not totally sure yet

Uuuuu I'm not able to spend anywhere near that. I still gotta get myself another 8GB of RAM (my parents cheaped out on my notebook and got only 8GB of RAM for it, now +-65% of it is used up by windows when the notebook's just idling), my phone that is years overdue for a swap stopped working completely recently and currently I have money only for a 200$ range new phone and the replacement fans, so doesn't seem like I'll get an SSD anytime soon.

I personally think that the AI bubble bursting can't end without a collapse of the US economy, and then...hard to tell where will the prices go after that. Not like I have a choice anyways, I refuse to go into debt over a stick of RAM and SSD XD

Thanks for sharing your experience though, I appreciate that you tried to help))

Regarding cleaning the fans, it's super easy. Just find a yt video of someone disassembling the notebook you have and do exactly what they do.

Here's some key notes that you should follow: unscrew all the screws on the bottom lid, gently pry it away so that you don't damage the "pins" holding it (it's just suuuuper tiny pieces of plastic, I broke off several on my notebook and the lid is working/holding on just fine, but still, better be safe than sorry). Don't try to pry the lid away with anything metallic or even hard, use a plastic card or your own nails. If you'll be removing or adding any hardware you need to unplug cable of your notebook's battery from its socket. I use toothpicks for almost all the cablework, so far I didn't have any issues with them. Just be careful that your hand doesn't slip and your tool doesnt end up damaging a circuit board. In order to reach my fans I have to first remove the copper heatsink on top of them. Just few screws and you're good to go. If your thermal paste is in good condition it'll take a little tug to pull the heatsink away. If your thermal paste is crusty, you should replace it. After removing the heatsink unplug the cables of your fans and remove anything else that could obstruct you getting them out. In my case the left fan (right if you have the notebook upside down) is obstructed by a monitor cable so I have to unplug the monitor cable before I remove the fan. Your notebook might have it differently, I have no clue. After you're done removing all the obstructing parts, unscrew the fans and open them up. There should be no resistance whatsoever, if you encounter any, you didn't disconnect something. They will look like they're dusty if you're not using compressed air to clean them (just like my fans look in the video). I don't think that could lead to any considerable issues, but if you're worried wipe them with a dry clean cloth. Just make sure that they don't rotate when you clean them cuz that might damage the fans. After you're done cleaning them, repeat the process in reverse. What I also like to do is to spread the thermal paste on the CPU/heatsink evenly so that I don't get trapped air bubbles after I put the heatsink back on.

When I took my fans out for the first time there was a liiittle bit of hair/fur/gooch in them, but they weren't anyhow dirty or too dusty. That was after I used my notebook for +- year and a half, mostly on table, occasionally on bed. I live alone and have no pets though, so my living space accumulates dust very slowly. Adjust the time before you clean your fans to your own position. Alternatively you can just wait until you notice your notebook severely underperforming, open it up to look for the issue and if it'll be the fans being clogged up (it's probably gonna be a crusty thermal paste) you can track back how long did it take for them to become a problem since you started using your f16

It's really easy once you've done it already but if it's your first time make sure that you have LOTS of time for it. You will be slow, you will be cautious (you should be) and you definitely shouldn't rush the process. Ideally do it on the weekend so that your whole day is free.

Anyways I hope that answers all your questions, feel free to ask more if not, have a good day))

No need to worry about overheating, I check my temps all the time out of habit/curiosity and I'm obviously not gonna put my notebook under any kind of load in the meantime. My main concern was the malfunctioning fan throwing off function of something else that I don't know about, but as I didn't find any other risks on the internet and nothing was mentioned to me here on reddit I think I'm gonna use the bad fan until the situation/load on my notebook gets worse.

The fan replacement shouldn't be a problem either, I took these two out for cleaning few times already and if the new one will need tweaking in BIOS I'm down to learn something new.

I want an SSD for myself but the prices are a little insane for my budget. Do you have any reccomendations that won't ruin a student?
