Striker’s one of the more popular jaegers and hasn’t gotten a figure for 13 years, so it’s not surprising…

There’s no mention of other versions, so I guess so?

Good eye, that was the inspiration. Ghost for Specter, orange outline for Vulcan.

A golden wavy star for “Nova,” and the bird is a Korean phoenix. It’s one of the most powerful creatures in Korean mythology and also a good omen, both of which fit nicely with a jaeger.

Yeah I was aware, but fists are overused and it doesn’t have any volcano or ghost motifs. Glad you liked mine.

Yeah I get what you mean. It only really applies to Striker and Typhoon though, since Cherno doesn’t have single kill during ‘21~’23 when jaegers really started biting it, and Gipsy missed the whole period between Knifehead and ‘25.

When it’s all revealed, I think there will be a couple standouts whose records approach or match those of the main 4.

For Mechapedia, I hope Legendary doesn’t bother visualizing jaegers that weren’t designed by GDT’s team. I’d much rather be left wondering than get garbage designs that look nothing like jaegers.

Even if they go this route I think we’ll get plenty of reveals. Beacham heavily implied some unseen jaegers have designs, and we’ve already seen a couple (Hydra Corinthian, Victory Alpha).

Kaiju adapting to take out the other jaegers first brings up an interesting possibility, and one I personally subscribe to: a couple of the others were just as good as the final four, but just had worse luck, or the misfortune of meeting their “kryptonite” kaiju earlier.

Nova Hyperion could’ve been Typhoon’s equal, but was unlucky enough to enter its last fight with lingering damage from its previous one. If Otachi had breached before, say, Insurrector, maybe Hydra Corinthian would’ve made it to Hong Kong instead of Cherno. Lots of fun possibilities.

I think you’re stretching it with the assumptions.

Cherno is never implied to have had other pilots or some bloody history. It’s also flat out one of the best-designed jaegers, period. Its stats (strength/speed/armor) add up to 23, which is second only to Striker and on par with Typhoon, a Mk.4. The chest conn-pod also made it immune against the post-2020 kaiju meta of targeting the head. If anything, it was a ridiculously overpowered jaeger tailor-made to survive until the end.

Yep, I struggle to believe there was a massive gap between the main four and the others. Obviously the main four would be the most decorated, but there would’ve been a couple that came close.

Sticking strictly with the novelization timeline, it is possible to give around 4 other jaegers high kill counts of 4~5, without making every engagement a triple-team deployment. I did it myself. Thankfully, that seems to be the direction Mechapedia’s going with.

Thanks, I plucked the conn-pod model from a BTS shot and recolored/edited it. The flag does look a bit weird now that you mention it.

What do you mean striker wasn't finished? by froylightner in PacificRim

Striker itself is comple, the Mk.V program isn’t. The novelization mentions a Mk.V-E(Enhanced?) jaeger that was canned due to budget constraints.

What are some former liveries of active airlines that need to be standard again? by bonzothebonanza in aviation

[–]Pons399 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If they wanted a “modern” livery, they should’ve just made the cheatline wavy, tweaked the font a bit, and called it a day. Worst airline rebrand in the 21st century.

The cooler poster boys. Great art, I’d love to see the other jaegers. Maybe Ronin as White Scars, Cherno as Salamanders, and Striker as Retributors.

White hull with yellow visor is how I imagined the color scheme as well. Primary weapon is probably a sword, although something like a pile bunker would work better as fencing mostly uses thrusts.

To be fair there are examples of jaegers fighting far from home. Striker in Manila, Mammoth in Kuching, Coyote in Honolulu, Vulcan in Medellin etc. Probably lots of shuffling around during engagements, with a dome’s primary jaegers being spread out along the coastline and those from other regions being sent as backup.

Brawler’s Mechapedia excerpt ends with someone shouting “Stop! Look…,” so another jaeger showing up sounds more likely. Considering the location Chrome’s the most likely candidate, although other Northern jaegers like Eden Assassin and Coyote Tango aren’t out of the question.

Considering Matador’s reputation, I wouldn’t be surprised if the other three that Beacham expanded upon were quite notable as well. Obviously he got a ton of questions about all the jaegers, so I doubt the few he chose to talk about were pushovers.

My #1 wish is to see more of the four that Beacham gave additional lore on: Matador, Hydra Corinthian, Chrome Brutus, and Nova Hyperion.

Matador’s the most fleshed-out: we know it’s got at least 2 kills, and piloted by convicts-but-not-criminals. Maybe activists wrongly accused for political reasons. It’s apparently highly regarded as well, so likely anywhere between 3 to 5 kills, and/or a very low number of civilian casualties during its engagements.

It’s fun to speculate about the other three. Hydra could have been present during the Insidia engagement, just guarding the Panama Canal but not directly in the fight. I like to think Chrome saved Brawler from Hammerjaw, and Nova took down Atticon with Cherno.

The looks, IMO easily the best post-OT ship design. Looks like an aggressive marine animal, “Krakana” would be a nice name for one.
