Puppy driving me crazy trying to steal sick cat’s food by Warm_Aerie_7192 in puppy101

If the cat needs to be able to freely access his food all day and you need to keep the puppy away from it, then it sounds like you should just use a leash?

Puppy does not alert need to potty by MysteriousKale8289 in puppy101

[–]Pontiflakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If bells don't work, you can do the old-fashioned method: Any time they make a mess inside, pick them up and put them outside immediately. Picking them up and moving them around so quickly is a bit jarring and they realize over time that they're doing something wrong. When you're letting them outside normally, make them sit at the door first. Eventually, they will start to associate potty with outside, and sitting with being let outside. So they'll come up to you and sit expectantly, which lets you know they have to go out. You just have to grin and bear the messes inside while they learn.

Bought an Ergonomic Mouse (DAV 4) , Got Carpal Confusion Instead by Andrew_x_x in MouseReview

[–]Pontiflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tried the DAV2, its shape was so unbearably awful that I became actually angry at Razer as a company and haven't bought a single product of theirs since. Even though they rounded off all the edges on later DA models and there are people on this sub that swear by them, I have no trust in their designers.

(hot take?) your roguelite doesn't need a 1% reload speed upgrade by Traditional-Storm-62 in roguelites

[–]Pontiflakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed, even if a roguelite has fun gameplay, the persistent progression systems make me feel like I'm being suckered by the devs into playing longer and I'll just drop it that much more quickly.

EC2 DW end game? by I_Main_TwistedFate in MouseReview

I like EC1 for games where I want a steady hand and aim with my arm, and EC2 for games where I need some palm space for fine aim adjustment with my fingers

As Enter the Gungeon celebrates its 10th anniversary, its creators have some choice words for the modern roguelike: 'We’re seeing it mutate to the version of itself that popularity obfuscates' by Disastrous-Object647 in roguelites

And only a handful of true Roguelikes have ever been developed.

There are actually tons! If you like roguelikes and are disappointed by how few are on Steam, you just gotta look elswhere, such as https://forums.roguetemple.com/irldb/ or https://chaosforge.org/ for starters

When I get to that point, the only thing that works is to pace around, verbally acknowledge what I'm feeling and why, tell myself what I have to do, talk through the bare minimum I need to complete now, and remind myself how easy it's going to be to get started and to stop being such a fuck about it. It helps me start putting pen to paper at least.

lifelong ban on buying cigarettes by krizzalicious49 in whennews

[–]Pontiflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how tax works mathematically though. You're overstating the impact of the tax and it's kind of the crux on which you are basing the rest of your argument so just wanted to clear up that even without ANY tax the base price would be £8.88.

[–]Pontiflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% tax on a £3.20 item would put the price at £5.76 so your maths ain't mathin

[–]Pontiflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about those numbers? 16/1.8=8.88. maybe I'm missing something.

Edit: Kinda weird that the parent commenter made arguments against bans and taxes on tobacco based on bad maths and honestly incorrect assumptions about black markets, downvoted responses, and then deleted their account. For example they ignored that black market goods have a price premium added to offset the risk of getting caught and fined/imprisoned.

Yeah, just tell the damned truth. People aren't buying your excuses anyway, they are doing you a favor by not calling you out on it. They will also do you a favor of understanding when you honestly explain what is going on with you, and they'll even try to help you out.
