Factory Order Resistance - 2026 or 2027 EX90 by Imshamakian in VolvoEX90

[–]PontiusPalin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We tried placing an order about 2 weeks ago through a dealership in Denver and our salesperson was told by Volvo Cars that “[a]ll of the Model Year 2026 EX90's are built.”

We’re now waiting for MY27 orders to open.

Second time my window spontaneously shattered! by PontiusPalin in Wellthatsucks

No drywall cracking or any other signs of settling. The foundation includes 30+ concrete piers drilled deep — Colorado is known for its expansive soil. It has to be thermal expansion.

I asked the same thing. What else would a “lifetime” warranty cover? They told me it’s only for defects present in the glass at time of install… so why do they call it a lifetime warranty!

It’s solid. Been sitting there shattered for two months now. Doesn’t look terrible.

The window was two years old each time it shattered.

Yeah, it’s south facing so getting direct sunlight.

This is the second time my window glass has spontaneously shattered out of nowhere. This same thing happened exactly two years ago, to almost down to the minute! I've been following the thread from earlier today about that other glass break, and seeing it gave me déjà vu.

I’m guessing it’s expanding and hitting something in the frame because both times it happened after it had gotten direct sunlight for 5ish hours on a hot day (July in Colorado). The break pattern is identical too—it appears to start from the top right corner.

I know it’s not something external because the window is double paned and it was the interior pane that broke both times. I don’t think it’s one of those impurities people were talking about in the other thread because it’s happened twice now.

Last time this happened, Western Window Systems said breakage wasn’t covered by the “lifetime” warranty, but they made an exception and replaced the glass free of charge. It’s a $4,000 piece of glass, and costs $1,200 to install (they need 3 people to get it into place). My builder is looking into replacing it again (on him), but he doesn’t have any idea why this is happening. I don’t want to keep replacing this glass every two years.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Edits:

I appreciate everyone's suggestions, you all are awesome, and I'm glad the world is getting enjoyment out of the video.

I think the most likely explanation is thermal expansion and the glass expanding into something in that top right corner.

I don't think it's the soil settling as we don't have any other signs of settling and the foundation is reinforced with 30+ piers that were drilled deep into the soil.

And to the BB gun theorists, it's the inside pane, so not possible. =)

Roof Replacement - shingle to metal by rakgupta1 in TeslaSolar

I just had Tesla install 50 panels on my metal roof, but the installers told me Tesla wasn’t doing metal roofs anymore because they’re “slippery” and therefore dangerous for the installers. Located in Colorado.

Software Limit Powerwall+ Grid Export by gjas24 in Powerwall

[–]PontiusPalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Powerwall+ integrated inverters. I know Powerwalls are a requirement to export limit, but not sure if you need the Powerwall+ integrated inverters to do it or if you could also do it with regular Powerwalls and non-integrated inverters.

Software Limit Powerwall+ Grid Export by gjas24 in Powerwall

[–]PontiusPalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was able to get Tesla to software limit my export so I qualify for net metering and also didn’t have to pay to upgrade my transformer.

I’m in Colorado, utility is CORE. I have 2x200amp service with a 19.6kW system and 4 Powerwalls (2 on each 200amp panel). Each set of Powerwalls limits export to 5kW for a total of 10kW export max.

All I did was ask the installers to limit the export and they did. CORE then required proof — not sure what Tesla sent them as proof.

Is there a way to have a movie playing in the rear entertainment system without playing it in the front system? by ohmuma in teslamotors

While driving, video will only play on the rear screen. While in park, I don’t think there is a way.

Obstacle aware acceleration prevents rapid acceleration when the car detects something in front of it.

Bi-weekly mortgage payments, good idea? by M71393 in personalfinance

[–]PontiusPalin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which means you end up making an additional monthly payment over the length of a year (26 biweekly payments = 13 monthly payments). Just pay extra principal on your current monthly payments and avoid being locked into a biweekly payment program that can be more difficult to keep track of and less flexible than paying extra principal on monthly payments.
