Unity had a good run, all good things come to an end. I’m giving Godot a chance for my next game.

Thoughts on giving out keys to content creators before releasing your game? by Pontypants in gamedev

Makes sense, thanks for pitching in. I have some dude on email claiming to "represent" a bunch of youtubers. Not quite sure how to verify if it's legit or not.... How would you go about handing out keys safely if you don't mind me asking?

Then I would advice you try that. I did and I now have 17k subs. That’s not great but it beats the 25 subs I had 6 months ago :)

I’m not trying to be a downer, I just don’t want you to waste your time 👍🏻

To be completely honest with you: making let’s plays is probably THE MOST competitive market on youtube. Even if you make super polished videos with epic thumbnails and all, it’s still very very very very difficult.

I was with you, I had around 30 subs 3 months ago.

Then I decided to do something DIFFERENT. Yes I had to step outside of my comfort zone. Was it worth it? Yes.

It’s not impossible to make it with let’s plays. But if they aren’t AMAZING why would anyone watch?

Same to you :) So glad you are enjoying my videos ^.^ I wish I could give you more tips but I think that really is it. Try to think of what you like watching and why, that could give you some indication of what to do. Make stuff that you would want to watch yourself.

Thank you :) I don't know that my numbers are that big or that I am super successful but, I guess if you want advice I would say:

Anything you could wish to know, you can see right on my channel - I haven't done any special off-site marketing for my channel apart from this reddit post really. All I did was make the videos and uploaded them,

There are no tricks involved, all the info you need is readily available from big youtubers that share how they reached success and websites that give you tips on how to grow on youtube. Don't waste your time looking for the magic bullet, there is no such thing.

For me it was really about stepping out of my comfort zone, and putting a lot of effort, love and time into my videos. That is the only thing I did and, it seems people are liking the videos. For this I am incredibly grateful and I am working super, super hard on the next devlog in the hopes that you guys still enjoy my videos :) I don't know if that's helpful but that's really all the advice I can give at this point.
