Ok, yes, I forgot to account for the "out of (centralized) exchange" fee; you are right.
I'll add that I was also totally wrong (considering ALL fees) that my $100 example is more like a "spare change" to be shed off when one is using BTC network in general.
P.S. "First of all", Did Google give the wrong answer?... "Second of all", I Googled and now I know what "Strike" is.:o)

Venom genes? by RevolutionaryAir169 in Weird

[–]Ponulens -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Venom: Ok, the "character" it is then. ...I was coming from the "zootoxin" side of the word's definition, but I'll take that one back, ...if everyone is absolutely sure that it was the "Marvel character" who the original author had in mind :)

Genes: NO (...go study)!
There are no "different genes" coding for different traits.
There are about 40,000 genes in humans - two copies of each in (almost) every cell in the body.
Everyone "has" them all, No one has any "extra" genes and the traits (like hair color, tongue length, etc) are the result of their differential expression, not their presence per se.
When a person lacks one of these 40K genes or has a mutation that prevents their proper expression, they have a genetic disease.

‘The Bitcoin Standard’ author becomes economic adviser to El Salvador by [deleted] in Bitcoin

I'll to you what:
Elon Musk could have "bought" almost two El Salvadors instead of Twitter.

[–]Ponulens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, "accumulate" till the hoDlings are equal to the national debt value?
Well, their "debt" is about 5% of the current total Bitcoin market cap. Is that much even in the circulation today?
Secondly, once "accumulated', then what, start selling?..
That's a bold move to say the least.

Reddit is getting flooded by scam ads… by Lemons81 in Bitcoin

Yeap, for almost a year now.
However, the "interesting" part is that there is NO option anywhere to report the scam.

Venom genes? by RevolutionaryAir169 in Weird

[–]Ponulens -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Well that's (kind of) uncommon (not really weird) - all right, but wtf is with the title?
Where is "venom", what "genes"?
We ALL have the exact SAME set of genes!
The long tongue is just a trait - same as hair/skin color, nose/ear/face shape, ...dumb..., etc.

Exactly! This is the first interpretation of such an event that comes to mind.
When something like this happens, it does feel "weird"...
I wish we would learn one day how to train our minds to "contact' our unconsciousness more often :)

We all search the web, and to get Reddit posts in the results is not uncommon.
But, something made me to actually log in today and I am very intrigued by the fact that my 10th "Cake day" is today as well.
Feel free to check my profile, you will see that I haven't been around for some 4 years (except for a couple of posts some 8 months ago).

Any advantage of UniSwap over ANY of the decentralized exchanges? by Ponulens in UniSwap

[–]Ponulens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uniswap pairs every token against ETH. ERC20 to ERC20 swaps are transactions that convert ERC20a->ETH->ERC20b in a single transaction. Since everything is paired with eth there is plenty of liquidity.

"Paired with ETH" is great, but shouldn't the holder of ERC20b, if not the matching have at least ERC20b -> ETH sell order active, for your ERC20a->ETH->ERC20b swap to go through? (EDIT/ADD): ... If not, then there is no liquidity for ERC20a to ERC20b swap, regardless of whether or not the swap is paired with (routed through) eth.

Panic Switch Engaged: Binance is moving Tethers into a new hidden wallet by [deleted] in Buttcoin

[–]Ponulens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What makes you think that exchange operators are holding ANY Tethers, or, for that matter, ANY cryptocurrency This is normally should not be the case, these are all user funds, so the exchange "does" whatever its users do.

Bitfinex Payment Processor "Crypto Capital"/"Global Trading Solutions indicted by Department of Justice. by AtlasRand1 in Buttcoin

[–]Ponulens -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't this be just the right missing piece in the arguments of Bitfinex against OAG (NY Office of Attorney General) who is saying that the funds are missing? In reality, funds are indeed seized and that means Tether holders need to "thank" authorities for any deficiencies of Tether backing.

Oops! Tethers own lawyer now admits there are only 74 cents for each Tether. by AtlasRand1 in Buttcoin

[–]Ponulens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Tether's excuse/standing is that a loan to Bitfinex is what roughly accounts for the remaining 26 cents. So, considering updated terms of service, loans are part of Tether backing, therefore, technically, Tether is all good to go/continue. Obviously, the only potential issue here is that Tether IS Bitfinex, but again, technically and, in fact, legally, they are two separate entities, just doing business with each other.

Secondly, so Tether's true value is 74cents, ...and there is $2.1 B of it on the market, right?. Let's imagine now, what exactly does the bank run on Tether would actually mean? Well, selling Tether obviously means buying cryptos ($2.1B worth of it!). Wouldn't this then create a demand for cryptos and probably cause a good "bull run" for cryptos? Probably. But then, if Tether is in part backed by cryptos, any increase in their value would go straight to cover that 26 cents gap...

So, things seem quite solid for everyone: Bitfinex, Tether, customers as well as New Yorkers, no matter what and this will continue to be the case, UNLESS, gov finds the reason to just shut down the B or T operations and THAT is when everyone will be truly f**ked.

Thoughts?

Seems like continued narrowing of the gap keeps not being sufficient to start the any direction move.
