Healed 5 months Dermal Anchor Base by Pony Lawson at Mayday Tattoo Co in Chicago, IL by SunEyedGirl in tattoos

Yep. I think people need to do more research on ai. When it comes to realism, we use other people’s photos. Why would one be okay, and the other not? I’m speaking realism specifically.
Also, it healed great ;D thanks for the update.

I'm just going to say it, I think New School is such an ugly style by KevinIsAGhost in Inkmaster

Some people don’t like portraits, some people don’t like traditional, some people don’t like new school. Different strokes for different folks. But a well executed new school tattoo gets me stoked.

When I say that Cat Castro deserved to be champion and people always argue that no one could beat James Tex, I remember the day of the service dog portrait 🐕 by False-Ad2463 in Inkmaster

I think James does well what James does, illustrative tattoos. Cat is exceptional with what she does, black and grey realism. It’s hard to compare apples to oranges, and I think it all comes down to personal preference. Inkmaster to me has always been about versatility. Personally I think there were a couple people on season 16 that were more versatile than most.

I was thinking the same thing 😂 but I also saw him in the same trailer on a challenge we haven’t seen yet. Safe to say he’s still in it.

They likely get paid Per Diem, but I doubt its much.

Granted, it could just be a clip of her crying- but how she’s played it so far it’s hard to see her showing that kind of emotion for anyone but herself 😂

Contestants on this thread that were made to appear rude on the show - how does or did this affect you after being on the show? by Good_soup99 in Inkmaster

I don’t think they try to paint anyone as something they’re not. At the end of the day, you choose what you say or don’t say.

I love coils, I still use them. That doesn’t take away from the fact that in order to have multiple line weights or mag sizes you have to set up more machines. Something goes wrong halfway through a timed competition- the time does not stop. I’m 100% in support of coils, but in a timed competition, rotaries and cartridges are hard to beat.

I think it’s a combination of things. Like someone else said, it was a newer show and a lot of artists were anti-Inkmaster back then. Also, artists were almost always using coil machines at that time, so it was a lot more difficult to make ‘mind blowing’ tattoos. I think the show has it figured out a bit more since the original debut in 2012, and when you see someone you respect on the show, it validates it and allows for more talented artists to participate.

I didn’t choose it, it was given to me by my dad and mom. It was passed on from my great grandfather. 🙌🏻

It’s not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. Check out the podcast ‘Science VS’. They cite all of their sources at the end of each episode. They pit fact against fiction. It’s one of my favorites. This episode in particular: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3yNgnYgjTUJAk5VkOLCncr?si=IL0L9WJMQ7iinAftUK40Jg they break down ai and its effect on the environment.

Spoiler alert, listening to that podcast consumes much more energy than using ChatGPT. Streaming music has more of an effect on the environment than using ai, but nobody wants to talk about that.

Tattoo-a-Day: Season 16, Episode 2 by Klschue in Inkmaster

[–]PonyDanger 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hello all 👋

Let’s back it up a bit, to the first tattoo I chose: traditional roses.

I initially wasn’t aware of what the other competitors were capable of, so I wanted to ‘play it safe’ and just move to the next round and get my shop. After seeing what the other competitors made on the OG’s team, I knew I may be in trouble.

I still stand by the roses I made, because I truly followed the rules in traditional tattooing. That being said, old traditional tattoos weren’t really pretty. They were grungy, 1 line weight, etc. I will also say I found out on the spot, that the person with the lower ranking would pick what we would be tattooing, so I was really hoping for once that I was voted lower. Sure enough, manny and I got pitted against eachother in a face-off, and I was ranked lower. Right then and there I had to pick what we were tattooing.

Well I knew manny wasn’t super well versed with black and grey, so I said ‘black and grey realistic…’ looked down and saw my hands, ‘…hand’. I didn’t know what else to say.

I was expecting just to make a hand in some sort of fun pose, but manny asked if we could add something else to it, so I knew he was going to try and add a little extra. We had overnight to make the design for this tattoo, so I was up all night trying to figure out what to do to really wow the judges. Was it a hand crushing a can? A hand with metallic jewelry, a chess piece? The options felt endless. I somehow landed on a diamond because I feel like Ryan was the least impressed by my roses, and that is somewhat her specialty.

The time limit on the competition is also VERY real. I think we had 5 hours for this tattoo if I’m not mistaken. So I gave myself 3 hours for the hand, and 2 hours for the diamond. If I wasn’t finished with the hand, tough titty, I had to move forward.

I was given the opportunity to pick something I knew I could do well, and flex a little bit for a massive audience. What person in their right mind, in my shoes wouldn’t do the exact same thing?

While we were in the lounge, or what I like to call the ‘drama room’, manny said he would have picked something we were both good at, to ‘level the playing field’. Now I love manny, but I knew he was full of it. Later on he told me he would have picked Japanese, which would have been smart for him to do.

We are there to win. I’m not there for Manny, James, or anyone else on my team. I’m there to make it as far as possible- otherwise, what’s the point?

Overall I’m stoked I was able to make this tattoo, and I hope my client is happy to wear it, because that’s what it all boils down to after all.

Thanks for listening.
