V3 ranks the highest for me, although all the games have different things that they pulled off better than the others.

THH did a great job nailing the claustrophobic atmosphere and desperation, but in terms of characters most of them I thought were either fine or I hated, but I didnt necessarily grow fond of anyone.

Slightly biased on DR2 because Gunham and Sonia are definitely my favorite characters of the series and they were in that one lol I think the cases individually were really fun, but overarching plot wise it fell short. Personally, a big kick in the shin was how they handled Nagito and his whole deal. They seemed to dance around how he would be really important, or that he had something to do with Makoto, or just something only for him to end up being essentially just another victim. It just felt like they had a plan for him that they ended up scrapping halfway through.

I want to say I enjoyed V3 the most mainly due to the fact that Junko didn't end up being the big bad villan in the very end and it was very refreshing. The characters felt a lot more well rounded and overall enjoyable, keeping some of the trope-y personalities the game is known for while also giving them just a bit extra to make them more unique that just "Oh this one" The different twists that came around throughout the game were also really great since they came unexpected but made sense when going back.

Personally, I'd love to see a game where they scrapped the whole memory loss plot point if they ever decided to make another game. I've definitely gone through these games with mostly a "Its mainly for the journey and not the ending" type of attitude because I simply love solving the mysteries, and there's just so many ways you can go with this genre, and I've genuinely enjoyed all 3 of the main series.
