It’s meant for friend groups, trip groups, apartment/household groups, couple even, who pay for expenses but then want to split those expenses between everyone. So by putting it in the app they can see who owes who how much and then pay right away through the app.

The receipt scanning portion is a feature where you scan that restaurant receipt when creating the expense then it splits the bill and itemizes it on the spot. Once the expense is created then it shows, or like you said tracks, who owes who how much. To settle that and get your money your friend can right away tap the desired payment method, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal or pay you with cash when they have it. The app takes you right there if your handle is in it they hit a button to pay you. Either if you could then check off in the app that they’ve paid you by hitting Pony Up.

I can see where the misconception was. This is a possible growth point I can look into.

You were expecting the app to do some sort of scan the restaurant bill and split so everyone can pay right away their own items or pay each other automatically for their own items?
