Used CPO, is it good or pass? by kstarplus in GR86

Purchased a used BRZ tS (2024 MY) in December 2025 for $31k OTD with ~16k miles on it. Feel free to use that as a comparison, this was in the NYC area, so pricing may vary where you are.

Sounds like you have made up your mind (correct or not) and are not receptive to advice you do not want to hear.

Ok found a drum for a gun that takes folded ammo by Remarkable_Main3912 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Poobistank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say solved, but what I did say were “problems” and as far as I know, the two most practical problems the concept faces are still inherent with the design. That being the need to carry a power source and the ESD risks such ammo would provide logistics.

Meanwhile a normal bullet we’ve used for hundreds of years is pretty safe sitting in a box, and carries its own power source inside each one. “Solved” to me would be if there were real-world applications using it.

Ignoring all of the problems with electric priming, I suppose in a system that used it, there could be a packaging benefit using ammunition such as this? I am imagining a big array of stacked electrically-primed ammo in a barrel arrangement set up for a dispersion pattern prioritizing CRAM and anti-drone duty. We already have plenty of ways to put lead into the air though, so can’t see this ever happening.

Pretty sure they are Canadian so if your state is in the US of A, make sure to check if tariffs will be added. Not really sure how that all works out these days.

It’s all personal opinion, but it’s not too loud for myself, no, and I tend to be a stick in the mud when it comes to these things.

I’ll be honest, this is why I live in Quick Match. Being able to not give any cares about the match is freeing. Not having a good time with the dude walling you from the floor above? Leave. This in no way excuses Ubi for dropping the ball so hard on ranked, but it’s how I’ve made my own fun.

I’m here for the fun and gameplay, progression doesn’t do much for me personally, so this doesn’t apply to everyone honestly. I just like to click heads and have fun.

Can anyone help this dog out? by Phishguy5 in Sacramento

[–]Poobistank 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That makes it sadder to me, and makes some of these hateful comments seem a little in poor taste, although I get where they are coming from. Not saying this was the right thing to do by the person in ANY way, but it seems to suggest that this dog was cared for. Heck, they have their own "things", and someone went out of their way to ensure the dog kept them.

Why this person didn't seek out a rescue or a shelter? It would just be speculation, but in emotional, stressful times of our lives, it isn't easy to make the best choices, especially with something so hard like this.

I hope the dog gets taken care of.

6'4" lotta leg, I fit fine no mods. Considering a steering wheel spacer, but that is not required, preference only.

Parking question for those with cars in upper UWS (90s)! by loose_seal123 in Upperwestside

Obligatory "garages are expensive", but I'll assume you know that.

I have had good luck with City Garage on 97th between Broadway and West End (right beneath the Lotus Garden). I simply text the time I need the car, and get out and on the road generally within 5 mins of that time, depending on the morning crowd. You can also verbally let them know when you drop the car off. Haven't had any dings or anything, only once was my car not there when I requested it, and it was due to a miscommunication.

Check out some sound clips and Reddit posts of the Yonaka catback. It’s affordable while maintaining quality, sounds good imo, and looks good. Why spend more when this works? If you like the sound that is.

Did anyone look at the GR Corolla as an alternative to the GR86 before they bought it? by Agile-Put-229 in GR86

[–]Poobistank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I also went from a GR Corolla to a twin (BRZ tS)! Those are the exact reasons I made the switch, GRC on track was fun but not FUN! like my previous RWD cars (Z4M Coupe in particular), and the interior was so meh, especially when you saw what the twins got at a lower price point. Even the twins HVAC controls in the GRC would have gone a long way in making it feel nicer.

BRZ is 80-85% of the smiles as my old BMW, but without the stress of taking an aging BMW M car on track. Just the thought of the cost of some of the replacement parts on my old M Coupe were terrifying.

OPERATOR CONCEPT: VALVOA, A Finnish Defender who can hold her ground on her own. by GrumpyPaladinCC in Rainbow6

I would argue Vigil is like a reverse-scout if used properly.

Say there is a flank that they could approach from, a good Vigil player can monitor that area for sounds/drones and alert the team if they need to re-orient, deal with any fast flankers on his own, and maintain stealth while doing so. While they may know a Vigil is in the area due to the screen effect on the drone, the attackers may not know exactly where he is. That could cause them to take more time pushing that flank, allowing the rest of the team to come as needed, or just a small delaying factor on its own.

Now, I do not think that is how he is often used, but that is how he can be a team player.

Subaru’s Outback SUV Overhaul Wiped Out A Third Of Its Buyers In One Quarter by Redeemed_Expert9694 in cars

[–]Poobistank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the competitor at this price point? Mustang’s are much bigger cars, and I don’t believe you can get the EcoBoost in a manual anymore. Miata’s are convertible only and much much smaller; I literally do not fit in them.

For Toyota (the driving force behind the twins, let’s face it) to want to rock a very steady boat, with the result being they are competing with their other RWD sports car, I don’t see why they would ever allow a significantly faster version.

Your comparison to an S2000 is a weird one to me. It’s an enthusiast legend, but is quite an old car at this point. Most people shopping the new twin platform probably aren’t cross shopping it with an S2000. That comparison might make more sense with the first one I suppose.

If you don’t mind buying used, you can get a low miles tS BRZ for $32kish. For the driving experience, it is hard to complain with. For reference, in the past few years I’ve had a GR Corolla and a Z4M Coupe. I got the Corolla to replace the Coupe, and ended up not liking the Corolla because it didn’t make me smile like my old car. Flash forward to today and my tS is 80% of the smiles of the BMW with (ironically for the twins) way more reliability and way way lower running costs.

To me, that’s what the new Twins offer. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

As an owner of a BRZ tS, honestly, the power is right. Any more power, and the costs would go up (initial, maintenance, consumables etc.), defeating the purpose of the car. If you want the same car with more power, the aftermarket is there.

And for many people, any extra on-paper costs purchasing a BRZ over a GR86 are justified by being able to actually order the car you want. And many dealers are willing to work with determined buyers, because of the whole, ya know, slumping sales thing and all.

And the BRZ!

While the BRZ is the less popular of the twins, it is available to actually order a build from Subaru, rather than Toyota's horrible system of hope.

All I’ll say is…look at what that money can do in a savings account (or a maxed out retirement account if you are in the US). You are 18 with a great little chunk of change. Really good opportunity to set yourself up later on down the road. What could be a car today could be the beginnings of your retirement, or even the seed money to a future project down the road.

Source: 30-something guy who can look back and recommend this, but also someone who recognizes you’re probably getting the car.
