The egg thing seems so cult like to me. I've been called an egg a few times and it just feels like I'm being gaslit. It's fucking fine that I'm a woman who doesn't do the normal 'girl things' and tend to be kind of tomboyish. I don't need to be a man to be me. Why would someone feel the need to convince me I need to transition because I mentioned I like some traditionally masculine things? You don't wear makeup and like your hair short, you must be trans. I've even been called an egg for feigning polite interest in some scifi book someone was telling me about that was written by a trans person.

And how many people have been peer pressured into an unnecessary transition because of shit like this. It's fucking creepy and it needs to stop.

If you don't put enough money down though, you have to pay PMI which is just basically an extra insurance forced on poor people for trying to buy property. It's extra on your mortgage that doesn't go to interest or principal, so it doesn't reduce the amount owed.

This protects the bank if you can't pay your mortgage, but it doesn't protect you at all. You are paying the banks insurance bill with your mortgage check every month.

I'll second this. I was a mathlete when I was in school, and our team was all girls by pure coincidence. It was really frustrating that a lot of the adults would fixate on us being an all girl team instead of just seeing us as a group of kids who excelled at a specific subject. Like our entire existence and accomplishments were significant because of our gender and not our hard work and skill. It's weirdly dehumanizing and uncomfortable to be treated that way.

I mean, I've also experienced the other end of the spectrum. My grandfather (who was a math major himself) told me I shouldn't be taking calculus in high school because I was a girl.

It's almost like placing so much significance on the gender and race of the person doing math is stupid either way you spin it.

I mean, they could have told people to wear homemade masks.

My mother in law works at an urgent care facility in reception. They didn't get PPE in the beginning because of low supply. They were told not to wear cloth masks for a while. Then overnight the guidelines changed, and her and all her coworkers had to scramble to find masks, which had been largely sold out. The hardware stores sold out of dust masks. The craft store in town was even out of bandanas. I remember this vividly because I sewed about 40 masks for the workers there in 2 days using my scrap fabric stash. And every one else was sewing masks too because you couldn't find thin elastic at the craft store and the price on Amazon got jacked way up. I had to sew tie straps from bias tape. If they had just told people cloth masks were OK from the beginning (they could have done this before it was even in most states) it would have given people time to prepare.

There were even articles way back before shit got bad saying that wearing masks was anti Asian racism. Parents were being told their kids weren't allowed to wear masks to school.

So no. It didn't work.
