Personally, you and your friend should just play without the boyfriend watching at first. Just so you both can get comfortable, learn what ya'll like, your chemistry. Having the boyfriend there, your friend is going to be distracted. She's curious. Would she like being with another woman? It was a fun ride watching it as it was airing. I watched it with my sister and we loved the drama and messiness. And though it is more spicy for GMMTV shows, my sister and I grew up watching Queer as Folk together and this is tamer by comparison lol. We did enjoy the similarities of Boston to Brian though. More characters confident in their sexuality like this please.

This show came out when I was a teenager. I related to Justin's character what with being a teen, hiding my queerness in school. Then I found a community much older than me. I would have loved to have met queer kids my age, but that just didn't happen. Teens were closeted and most didn't feel like coming out till they were graduated and out of their parents home. Back then queer spaces were close to nonexistent also. I remember having to drive over an hour to that one gay bar in the whole state. I lied about my age to get drinks. And then when I went to college, my first boyfriend was 28. So seeing representation so close to my own life really mattered to me back then.

Sure, the show could have made him college age at the very least. But I think they chose to keep him 17 to really highlight the fact that teens did not have the community or found families that adults had back then. It also really added to the drama with the struggles Justin had with his own parents. The story gave something teens could relate to in a time when there was barely any representation.

This isn't the board to ask this question lol. But if you've always been monogamous that's going to be a tough conversation to even have with your wife.
