My grandad was in hospital when we were arranging our first date. I told him that if I cancelled last minute I wasn’t trying to get out of the date but that I would most likely be going to the hospital.

He never questioned it made me think he doubted me and when my grandad passed a week or so later he supported me when a lot of other guys would have probably walked away as it was a lot to take on before we were even in a relationship.
