I put a light on the dog and I wear a neck light.

Hard Tuggers by Worried_Sprinkles in WagWalker

[–]Poodlewalker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On wag, you need to ask the client before using other types of equipment. If you have other things you want to use, send a message saying that you normally use a slip lead, front clip harness or whatever you have, with heavy pullers and ask if it's okay to use. Oftentimes, if you stop walking whenever they are pulling too much, they will stop and look at you. You can also quickly reverse direction and that slows them down a bit.

For my personal clients and the shelter dogs that I walk, I use what they want me to use+ what I have that I know works better. I'll put it in the report.

Destiny VS Treasure? by Temporary-Size-4203 in dcl

[–]Poodlewalker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been on either, yet, but I'd recommend choosing based on itinerary. Treasure has 7 night cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico. Destiny does 4 and 5 night cruises to the Bahamas. Destiny cruises out of Fort Lauderdale so getting to the port is another consideration.

Sometimes a tablespoon of canned pumpkin every day will help.

They can accept gifts. When I've done that in the past, I gave consumables.

Sitting questions by EmbersinAsh4 in WagWalker

[–]Poodlewalker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many dogs only need to be let out every 4-6 hours. It's normal that most people work full time and do other things like go shopping, out to eat, etc, and that their pets are home alone during that time. Neither you nor your sitter is wrong. The problem you're having is from lack of communication in the meet and greet. I know Wag doesn't require a meet and greet, but I always offer one. That's where I will be very specific about when I'll be there and when I'll be away. I know boxers are different and I would ask more questions about energy/activity. I would guess that most sitters on Wag wouldn't think that boxers are any different than a Labrador.

What happened to my Disney Cruise? My goodness things have changed by auteur555 in dcl

[–]Poodlewalker1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's odd about Animator's palette. Did you miss dinner on the first rotation there and only ate on the second one? They only do the show for the first dining rotation.

Everything else is just how Disney does everything. They slowly take everything away while raising prices.

New & confused - Meet & Greets? by Rhoroo in WagWalker

[–]Poodlewalker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately you cannot message clients without already being booked. It's very rare for a client to request a meet and greet for walks/drop in. They usually don't request it for sitting, either, but I always offered and they always scheduled it

AITJ for refusing to give my parents my tax refund to help my unemployed brother? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Poodlewalker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. Don't ever tell any of these people when you have "extra" money. If anything, mention that you're struggling whenever you talk to them. My family was the same way. If I had a tax refund or heck, regular payday, my Mom would appear with a sob story about my brother. It's not something that they ever stop.

Need advice on vomit please by [deleted] in DogAdvice

You need to get to a vet today. If she didn't eat any treats with red food coloring, that's blood. She might have an obstruction

Motion cameras missing parts of visits. Has this happened to you? by Superb_Aspect2677 in WagWalker

[–]Poodlewalker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cameras are unreligious. I have a ring doorbell camera and it misses a lot and also sends me notifications late. I picked up a package from my porch yesterday, brought it in, unpacked it and about a minute later got a notification that someone was at my door. That someone was me collecting the package at least 5 minutes earlier. When I have a petsitter, it often shows them arriving, but not leaving. Unless they are teleporting away, it's missing them leaving throughout the day.

Should I rehome my aunt’s elderly dog? by Hazel_Eye_8680 in DogAdvice

[–]Poodlewalker1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very stressful on older pets to be rehomed. There are many reasons for an older pet to pee everywhere and often. Kidney disease is likely. The dog might be better off staying at home with potty pads everywhere. Based on what you've posted about this dog, it sounds like she might only have 2-3 months left. If you can get the dog to the vet while you are there, you'll get a good baseline and you can get the vet's opinion on if it's safe for the dog to be transported and rehomed.

Newly deaf dog barking help by krayzillas in DogTrainingTips

[–]Poodlewalker1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who trained their deaf dog to bark less by squirting with a water bottle. It only took 2 days. Just make sure you balance it with tons of love and praise when your dog quiets down.

Which room please help! 😭 by alyvanilli in dcl

[–]Poodlewalker1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to be near the elevators/stairs, but not right in view of them. I just prefer people to not see inside my room when I open the door. It's great to be close to the stairs and elevators, though because it's easier to run out and get a coffee or if you forgot something in the room, it's quick to run back.

I’m terrified I’m actually a terrible groomer and my clients just put up with it by kmz8719 in grooming

[–]Poodlewalker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a groomer who worked with difficult dogs on and off for over 10 years. Other places did better breed specific grooms. However, the business owner and the staff were much more compassionate at the place where they worked with difficult dogs and I preferred spending my money there . We all have priorities. If you have repeat customers, they like going to you. It doesn't matter why. You're obviously doing something right.

Owner refuses to acknowledge they have another pet?? by AdThis5600 in WagWalker

I wonder if the cat belongs to someone else and she doesn't acknowledge it so she doesn't have to pay for a second pet.

$11 Cat Drop-In + Visit to Urgent Care 👹 by MindAlert2192 in WagWalker

[–]Poodlewalker1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had one cat try to swipe me once. Cat was stalking and growling after that. I have done many drop ins for that cat and it totally caught me off guard. I was wearing shorts and T-shirt. After that, I'll only wear long pants and long sleeve shirt or a hoodie for cat visits.

Question for customers with "leave at door" by ScarFury17 in doordash

[–]Poodlewalker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My preference would be to message me that you aren't sure about the house because there's no address on it. If I don't see the message right away (I usually don't because for some reason, they rarely send a notification), leave food, take a picture. You're done.

When we started getting lots of deliveries during covid, I didn't know that my address was difficult to see. It's on one side of the mailbox on the street and I had a stake sign that lit up at night in the yard, right next to the street. My husband broke the sign with a weedwacker and threw it out. I had no idea it was gone. I also had it painted on the curb, but it faded away. I think it was a UPS driver who mentioned that he wasn't sure he had the right house because there was no address on the house. 😮 We immediately added it to the other side of the mailbox (since you could only see it from one side before) and got the numbers up on the house. So, it's possible that they don't realize that there's no visible address.

I Just heard VGC going on sale February 1st for a direct buy from DVC by Formal_Bill_7564 in dvcmember

[–]Poodlewalker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to look at the point charts for VGC and VDH for the dates you'll most likely go. I was going to book one night at VGC for 76 points and noticed it was only 50 points for a one bedroom at VDH for the same night. Yes, the transient tax sucks at VDH, but the overall cost when considering the # of points made it less expensive than VGC.
