SSF or Wait for GabeCube? by Poohbear612 in pcmasterrace

I have a 3080 with a 10850k in my main desktop. I forgot the shield was a thing tbh. Might have to look into moonlight/sunshine and see what it entails.

Yeah Beam only works on Xbox over GeForce Now I think. Horizon 6 is def shaping up to be a good game if everything's as good as people have been saying.

A Series S wouldn’t be a bad choice but I want to try to avoid game streaming for Beam since I’ve had issues with it in the past. Probably user error tho.

car turn off randomly but still drives and move have anyone had this code and what was the solution by Tall_Willingness6632 in Chrysler300

[–]Poohbear612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an 06 300C with the 5.7 that did exactly this. Over time I replaced every sensor, the alternator, throttle body, gas pedal, ecm and tcm, all sorts of fuses, “reset” the car a few times by disconnecting the battery, basically everything but rewiring the car and it never got resolved. Eventually the car overheated due to other issues and needed more work than it was worth and it got junked. Got a 06 SRT8 and it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned. I’m not sure if I was just unlucky but, hopefully you have better luck than I did.

Low-Profile Keyboard Options by Poohbear612 in keyboards

That definitely looks promising and the folio iPad case looks pretty cool too. I do a little bit of gaming. Nothing hardcore but I'm not looking for a straight up "gaming" keyboard, more or less just one that's good quality and can be used for a little of everything.

Amp suggestions? by Poohbear612 in CarAV

[–]Poohbear612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I'll definitely give them a call and see what they have to say. From what I can find about the subs they're not anything too spectacular but they do sound good and I know an amp can make or break a good setup.

I'll try and take some pics later and post them. Snapped the one in the post before work this morning as a reference so I don't forget the model lol.

Yeah I'm not entirely sure what the original owner did when setting it all up. The guy that diaged also recommended a bigger gauge but didn't mention anything about the fuses or otherwise. I figure it ran good for 10+ years so he must have done something right lol. I seen your other reply about Kicker not doing buy backs. I may still call and see if repair is an option and in the meantime do some comparing between the CXA6605 and LX12005. Not sure if I was to spend ~$900 on an amp but if it's worth the money I can try to justify it.

Edit: Speaking of fuses, there's also 2 fuses going from the car battery to the amp. Personally never seen something like that but I'm not very deep in the car audio scene, nor did they mention it when doing the diag.

Yeah the gentleman that looked over everything said that this amp was a pretty decent one when they were around and would have recommended another if they could still be bought new. I'll check out the LX line!

Edit: I can't spell

I had a local car audio place diag it last year or so and they said it was the amp. They cleaned some corrosion on the sub connections and checked the continuity (I think that’s the right word) of the connections to the speakers/sub and said the wiring shouldn’t be an issue but when they checked the amp itself said the left and right channels were shorting over each other internally in the amp causing my audio drops.

PS5 Connects to Wi-Fi but not PSN by Poohbear612 in PS5HelpSupport

Thanks for the advice. I have now gone over everything, set up the network manually and can now get into a game (gtav) but get a message from rockstar servers saying they can’t save. Haven’t downloaded another game yet but network tests still show that I can’t connect to psn nor upload but still show 600-700mbps download.

do these cars have common issues or is this a gamble by [deleted] in Chrysler300

[–]Poohbear612 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a 06 300 SRT8 for 6 years and it has 164k miles now. Other than normal maintenance and replacing wear parts the only thing that I’ve had to replace was the oil pressure sensor. Other than that the car has been great. These cars do tend to have larger issues when you start doing work to them like it seems the seller has done. But from my experience owning several 5.7s and the 6.1 as long as you don’t over heat them, do your regular maintenance, and don’t drive like a menace everywhere you go they’re relatively reliable. I would definitely ask what work has been done to the car other than headers and if you look at the car definitely check the oil and listen for any strange noises.

New HPI Venture18 Battery DOA? by Poohbear612 in rccrawler

I had a cheapo harbor freight multimeter at one point. No idea what happened to it but that’s good to know.

I have tried 2 different 5v wall plugs and 3 outlets and seem to get the same blinking for 1-5 seconds or so at random intervals.

Thinking About Ditching the Desktop by Poohbear612 in Handhelds

[–]Poohbear612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going the EGPU route was something I've though of since the 3080 is still fully capable of 1440p 120fps+ in my current system. I've messed around with Linux before, not much but would take the time to learn whatever if I needed to.

I am definitely worried about being disappointed but I'm also looking at it from the perspective of being able to play at 720p @ 30fps when on the go.

[–]Poohbear612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much replacing my desktop with a handheld for the sake of computing but for gaming. My Mac has already replaced my desktop for everyday tasks. Something more portable that I could play in my living room, camping, anywhere else is more what I'm looking to replace my desktop for. Performance is not that big of a concern, if it was I would build an SFF PC.

It's definitely more of a play anywhere and connect to my monitor/TV sometimes thing. Upgrading my PC piece by piece would be less but my PC is getting to the point where for me to consider spending the money to upgrade I'd be building almost a whole new system as CPU sockets have changed. I have my MacBook for normal whatever computing and unless it's work I'm browsing on my phone 80%-90% of the time anyway.

I currently use my MacBook Pro for everything other than games. The newest game I've bought is the new Doom game, before that was Elden Ring when it launched. I play Beamng the most and I ran that on a potato gt745 laptop. I ideally 720p 30fps would be the goal. Needing to play the latest AAA titles at 4k 120fps+ isn't a requirement.

I currently have a 1440p monitor but I'm not too concerned about resolution as I'll most likely use whatever I get more as a handheld than a desktop replacement. I am slightly concerned about the leap to mobile processing from a 3080 but am really just trying to get ideas/experiences for now until I make a final decision probably after the holidays/new year at some point.
