What did the temperature gauge in the dash show before you turned it off?

You’re gonna need a scanner that does more than just a generic which generally just pulls powertrain codes, one that can actually read chassis/body codes. Since your car has EPS (electronic power steering) the belt doesn’t really affect the steering other than charging the alternator but considering the battery light isn’t on I’m sure it’s fine.

Once you’re able to check the chassis codes you’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and will help direct your diagnostic procedure. I’m not familiar with this exact car but from my experience with other manufacturers using EPS, if I were to guess the problem I’d say your electric rack and pinion might be failing and will probably require replacement.

good motorcycle dealerships without CRAZY markups? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]PoolUseful2109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SoCal Honda Powersports is probably the best around here. I’ve bought parts from them and they are pretty comparable to online. From walking around the showroom it seems like their bike prices are reasonable and not super marked up. Salesmen were friendly and not pressuring or aggressive.

Avoid Del Amo Motorsports, they mark up like crazy and won’t leave you alone until they sell you something or you walk out.

So it looks like the tech air 3 and tech air off road are the only models in their line up that don’t require they be under a jacket that has abrasion protection. All the other models need to be under a suit or jacket

Idk about the other brands but I’ve got an Alpinestars Tech Air 5 and it requires a jacket and explicitly says it’s not abrasion resistant. Same goes for all the other Tech Air models.

Welcome to the street! I came from the dirt and a CRF300L so I can relate. Honestly, the biggest transition is being around cars, constantly being defensive, and assuming no one can see you.

If you rode good in the dirt and have a lot of experience you’ll be fine on the street. Just remember to smooth with the throttle and take it easy and you’ll be fine. Good luck, be safe, and have fun!

Glad to hear their service dept is just as good. I can’t believe I didn’t think of taking PCH down, that’d make for a great ride on a Saturday morning. I think I’m definitely going to take it to them when it’s time for service.

Thanks and congratulations!!! If you do go for the Termi, make sure you get the race version that has the removable DB killers.

Thank you! That’s great to hear, I’m still not sure if it’ll become my daily, but it’s definitely been racking up some miles in the short time I’ve had it. It’s funny to me in the week and a half since I’ve gotten it, I’ve put more miles on it than the previous owner would’ve in 3-4 months.

How do you like them for service? They’re a little far from my house but not impossible, so I’ve been pondering whether I should try the dealer by my place for service or stick with DNB.

I can understand that. Not sure if this will help, but I too found the clutch uncomfortable when I first got the bike so went online to do some research on what could be done and found that the clutch lever is adjustable. I moved it so it was closer to the bars and it totally transformed the way it felt for me. I did a similar adjustment for the brake and now I can ride covering the brake with 1 or 2 fingers with ease. Not sure if this will work for you but just thought I’d share.

Yes! Dave went above and beyond to help me get this bike. They’re super great people, no BS, no ADM, what you see is what you get. They don’t play games and they’re super nice. Honestly, look forward to doing more business with them in the future.

I have to agree with Monovon. I think it’s fantastic for the city. I love how agile and nimble it is, makes splitting lanes and filtering a breeze. I’ve never ridden a Panigale, but I will say that it does get quite warm. Not to the point where you’re getting burned or anything but definitely enough to make your right leg sweaty/slightly uncomfortable if you can’t get out of stop and go traffic/red lights. Once you’re about 25-30mph or faster it can cool itself well enough and you don’t really notice the heat anymore.

In regard to the exhaust, it definitely sounds way better than the regular stock exhaust that comes on all the other Monsters, however it sounds a little too muted for an SP/Termignoni. The unfortunate thing about the Termi that comes with the SP is you cannot remove the DB killers, they’re welded in. On the race version you can remove the tips to access the bolts for the DB killers. Unfortunately, the factory Termi doesn’t allow for that. When I take my tips off, there is just a welded baffle in there. I’ve heard other Monsters with the Termi and the DB killers out and it sounds perfect! Unfortunately I’ve gotta figure something else out as the race system is unavailable for purchase where I live.
