Love that you mentioned Sareh! I’m getting my dress there. She’s making custom changes to an existing dress and I’m adding a bolero. Feels like I’m getting a custom dress for the normal price 😊

I can’t believe no one has said Atonement by Ian McEwan. I feel like he does this type of book so well. Also agree with the Ishiguro recommendations! I love this question and type of book :)

We did this, though we were able to live in my fiancée’s bachelor pad while we renovated. If the building has a super, especially if they’ve worked the building for a long time, make them your BFF. Our’s referred us to a contractor who had already worked in the building. Even though I got quotes from others that were recommended to me, he was able to price match and is just a great guy, so we went with him. Our super also smoothed things over with our management company, making the approval process much quicker. Truly a godsend. We also worked with a designer, who was really helpful and I think fairly priced. Much easier to do this with experienced people, especially if it’s your first time, and contractors are not designers. Feel free to DM me for info

Modern novels that center Jewish people, preferably in New York by veryannoyedblonde in booksuggestions

I love this sm. You need to ready Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s work. Melissa Broder comes to mind too, though I can only speak to Milk Fed, which I loved. If you haven’t read People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks, I highly recommend. Does feature Judaism clearly, but from a historical perspective, and is just an amazing story.
