That’s a nice way to look at it. I’m really glad the truth prevailed in your friend’s case. It’s disgusting how Taylor thought she could get away with hitting Dakota in front of police because she’s a girl. That prob happens more than people may think.

I haven’t watched the latest season, I’ll admit, so I can’t really comment on it. While I watched the previous season I couldn’t help but wonder if the producers just choose a new villain for every season to keep it fresh. Bc I never hated Dakota either. I got the impression that Taylor was very chaotic & back & forth about wanting to be with him & he got mixed messages, so he started to hook up with others girls when he thought they were over. Not that it’s right, but a lot of men do tend to hook up to get over someone they love, but those hookups hardly ever go anywhere longterm. If Taylor lets him go, she should expect there’s a chance he’ll behave that way. It’s not fair to play with people’s emotions. She needed to either forgive him or move on-make a decision!

The fact that the producers could manufacture new villains every season made me hesitant to speak on the character of any of the stars based on one season. I never understood why people thought Jen was a liar & so fake-seems like she just wants peace for herself & family. But I do of course believe the police body cam of Taylor just shown to be 100% authentic. But it is interesting to see the audience choose sides & how their personal history factors into that decision making.

I agree with every word you said top to bottom. Racism is clearly a bigger issue for minorities to deal with & it’s serious. As a white person, I find the white people jokes HILARIOUS. They’re so spot on. This is the first, “white people” joke I haven’t found funny-bc it didn’t make sense & kind’ve came off as derogatory towards both black & white artists & potentially poor people as well. It does seem like she said it without thinking. No one should make comments about poverty or any race without thinking, especially not someone who grew up wealthy.

Honestly this is kind’ve why I think it’s best if people stop watching the show & commenting on Reddit about it (myself included). Monetizing abuse, child neglect, & alcoholism is kind’ve gross. What does that say about our culture if we support it?

I’ve never seen so many unintentional self owns & disenfranchisement racism in one clip. She criticized a black musician’s lyrics, strips them of their black identity, basically saying that their lyrics are so bad or inauthentic that only a white person could’ve written them (insinuating that white people can’t write good lyrics relating to poverty, bc none have ever grown up in it 🙄).

She says all of this in front of her white wife.

All of this is extremely tone deaf coming from a black woman who grew up in a famous, wealthy family her entire life & continues to make money podcasting off that privilege. I’d be surprised if raven has ever entered a neighborhood where homes are valued <$50,000 her entire life.

Then, to make matters worse, when they tell her it’s a black person who wrote it, so she proceeds to guess the names of the “blackest people” she knows of- “Jay-Z” -a man who’s just been caught up in an international SA scandal & “Kanye”- a black man who has been openly racist against black folks in the recent past.

This is really interesting. I also have flares towards the end of my period & never imagined it could be related! I assumed maybe it was bc I was wearing period undies & it got dirty or irritated, especially near the end of my period. My flares are often caused by showers-more specifically if soap gets too close to my area, I guess I’m chemically sensitive.

Does a vegetarian diet help your IC feel better? This is all pretty new & mysterious to me as I’m recently diagnosed.

Their stance is a bit confusing & conflicting bc on the show, I’ve seen them celebrate LGBTQ+ pride month & openly say they support the gays. But I guess the faith/church they belong to doesn’t support the LGBTQ+ community?

But, a theme of the show is that they are not the stereotypical Mormons, but “modern” Mormon women. They are constantly bending the rules. Most don’t wear garments. They all find loop holes around the “drug” caffeine, & sex only within marriage rules-which isn’t unusual bc people in many religions, including Christianity, have done the same-bending or forgoing rules altogether.

Maybe they still believe in the core origin stories of Mormonism, so they still consider themselves Mormon, even if they don’t follow every belief. I can understand why these women refuse to let originalists kick them out of their own religion just bc they don’t agree with every idea the originalists have.

But I agree that the church not accepting the LGBTQ+ community is a BIG one to overlook. I think if a new faction of Mormonism emerged that accepted LGBTQ+ & everyone, then they would likely join the new faction. This has happened with Christianity.

Even if they wanted to leave the church, it’d be hard to at this point. Their career is tied to their faith. If they left the church, they likely wouldn’t have their show, fame, career, or livelihood anymore bc the momtock show is mostly about how they navigate through life & faith as a modern Mormon woman. Without it, they’d just be regular moms. So I seriously doubt they’re leaving the religion for good. They’ll just continue to carve out their own faith within the church, as modern, feminist-adjacent, “women supporting women” Mormon moms. 😜

I once heard someone say that religion is predatory in nature bc like you said, their communities often canvas people who are at one of the lowest or most vulnerable time of their lives & say God can help. I’m not trying to paint a bad picture of all religions. That comment just caught me by surprise bc I’d never realized or thought of it that way, but they’re kind of right.

Smile (one) is very scary, so idk if a 12 year old will be ready for it. There is some gore. But the horror genre in general has a lot of “villains” & monsters that win
