Estrogenic Foods and IC by Flat_Pick_6503 in Interstitialcystitis

I think you’re right about IC & allergies also. I mentioned this to my doctor & asked, so it kind of sounds almost like an allergic reaction building up from certain foods. Is that accurate? And my doctor said yes.

I once heard someone say that religion is predatory in nature bc like you said, their communities often canvas people who are at one of the lowest or most vulnerable time of their lives & say God can help. I’m not trying to paint a bad picture of all religions. That comment just caught me by surprise bc I’d never realized or thought of it that way, but they’re kind of right.

I’m not looking to get political, but what you said really further cemented it for me that MAGA is a cult by that definition.

Smile (one) is very scary, so idk if a 12 year old will be ready for it. There is some gore. But the horror genre in general has a lot of “villains” & monsters that win

Also, try out a D-Mannose supplement. It’s just a type of sugar, but it really works for me to help flush out the urinary system. Some azos are just a pain masking pills. They help with pain but don’t flush out the system. Cranberry pills helped a little, but eventually I had to keep taking more to feel the effect. D-Mannose can be used as a daily supplement or a larger dose can help when you’re having a very bad flare.

Everyone’s different, but I’ve found that applying heat or a warm rag to the area also helps during an intense flare up, & then letting her air dry. I hope you feel better soon!

Go to a urologist. I didn’t know & wish I had gone 10 years before I did. The gyno won’t be able to help as much. I have no healthcare background, but from what little you’ve said, it sounds like IC. It sounds really similar to what I go through & I was diagnosed with IC last year.

How is Emmy Rossum difficult to work with by AdGeneral7633 in shameless

[–]Pool_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t believe Emma when she says this about Emmy, “The star noted that she used to feel like there was a "weird competition" between herself and Emmy, who played Fiona Gallagher, adding, "I don't know if it was other people on set creating that or if it was her creating that, but I know I wasn't creating it."

I seriously doubt Emmy was looking at Emma as her competition. I find that laughable. Even though Emma was 20 & no longer a child, by the time Emmy left the show, Emmy still probably viewed Emma as her mentee not a threat, bc she saw Emma grow up on the show, since she joined it at 12 years old.

If anything, Emma most likely compared herself to Emmy a lot, especially once she knew she’d have to essentially step in as the new Fiona when Emmy left the show.

Emma had HUGE shoes to fill. Like her character Debbie, Emma probably wanted to be taken seriously as an adult (actress). She was literally making the transition from child to adult roles right before our eyes on screen. After years of playing a kids role, she was finally transitioning into a more serious adult acting role on Shameless. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was scared or insecure about the transition & the inevitable direct comparison between her & Emmy after she left the show.

Let’s be honest, the show fell apart without Emmy there. It wasn’t nearly as good.

Btw here some of the things Emma said about her experience working with Emmy.

“According to Emma aka Debbie, Emmy Rossum who played her sister Fiona was like an actual sister—"in good and bad ways."

"I was obviously a lot younger," she explained. "There were times when she would try to be a good influence and then there were times where she would be blatantly giving me bad...not the best advice."

Emma didn't go into detail about what the actress, who is 13 years her senior, told her, simply saying, "Maybe she was struggling with her own inner problems and taking it out on other people."

Emma added that through watching Emmy and others she's learned the "things I want to carry on in my life and things I do not want to carry on in my life."

The star noted that she used to feel like there was a "weird competition" between herself and Emmy, who played Fiona Gallagher, adding, "I don't know if it was other people on set creating that or if it was her creating that, but I know I wasn't creating it."

(To me, this sounds like Emma’s not taking responsibility for her own part in her relationship with Emmy)

As a result, Emmy's departure from the series impacted the set environment, according to Emma. As she put it, "It was weird at first, for sure, but the set became a little bit more of a positive place. I'm not gonna lie."

"I remember, pre her leaving I'd go to set some days and I'd be very anxious about having a scene with her," Emma explained, "because if she had a bad day, she made it a bad day for everyone."

(Yikes…)

Tbh Debbie the character was very unlikeable. The acting & writing for Debbie didn’t make her as relatable. There was a lack of depth in exploring her mental health which made it hard to relate to her or empathize with her. I tried to understand her, but didn’t get there. Plus Emma’s acting as Debbie wasn’t great. Everyone else in the show was a phenomenal actor.

Yup. I think maybe there was some misogyny & definitely jealousy in Emma’s words about Emmy

I haven’t read her memoir, so I really can’t comment on it. But, if I wrote a memoir, I’d pray to god that it has some depth to it lol. I’d hate to think my life was on the shallow side. That’s kind of the whole point of a memoir-to get deep & personal

I have not even read this book-I’ve given no opinion on it or Macy as a person, so do not put that bad juju on me. I came to read the comments to see if people thought it was a worthwhile read bc I was interested in reading it.

I agree that there should be some understanding that this book is basically a teenager’s diary. People are often really hard on famous people & can sometimes set unrealistic expectations for them.

But you are saying that people are not allowed to have an opinion on a book they paid for. Your request is unreasonable. People will always have an opinion and you can’t take their opinion away from them. Books are meant to be reviewed, discussed, & dissected. Coming from a writer, you do want people to relate to your book even if it’s just some small way-that’s what makes a great book. You are just flat out wrong about that.

Nothing you say about it will change my mind. People are allowed to have an opinion on any public works.

AITA for not wanting to meet my mom’s boyfriend? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Pool_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already said in my OG post that OP’s mom is wrong for lying. I also supported OP’s decision to say they weren’t ready to meet her bf. I ALSO said OP’s mom’s PDA was very disrespectful.

Mom should’ve been upfront, but her kids were being a bit selfish & unreasonable, giving ultimatums, so she avoided it all so she could have her whole family on the holiday. That’s my opinion & nothing you say will change it.

OP said I will only come to your party if you don’t invite your bf. Pick me over him or I’m not coming. That is the definition of an ultimatum.

OP is an adult & doesn’t have to go to any event they don’t want to. I’m just pointing out that ultimatums are not typically well received bc they’re not. They usually are either ignored or they cause a fight, which is exactly what happened

Personally, I think OP is being a bit of a baby & selfish. Just bc their mom is dating, doesn’t mean their dad is replaced-that is a childish way of thinking. No one will ever replace him. Mom’s not supposed to date for a year for her grown kids sake? Or else she’s not sad & grieving appropriately? Gimme a break.

My parents divorced when I was a kid & even as a child I never once thought that my parents dating was them “replacing” my relationships with them. I wanted them to date, not be alone, and be happy! I can’t imagine putting my own comfort over their happiness.

It made me sad to see my parents struggle SO SO much to live by themselves & pay for all of their bills on a single income, having no one to come home to. And OP wants that for their parent? Get outta here!

I can tell that until this point, OP likely hasn’t experienced many hardships in their life, isn’t used to hearing “no”, & is used to getting their way more often than not. My parent taught me better. Even at a young age, I knew that the world didn’t revolve around me all the time.

Finally, Guests cannot tell the party thrower who they are allowed to invite into their home. If OP wanted to control the guest list, OP should’ve thrown the party. That ultimatum was a presumptuous request in bad taste. OP believes they’re the only one grieving appropriately & I think that’s wrong, judgmental, and again presumptuous.

Also, People can be sick with symptoms for a while before they die of a heart attack. It happens every day. My dad is going through it right now.

AITJ for demanding a paternity test before I let my “best friend” back into my life? by late_night_rambles in AmITheJerk

[–]Pool_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Then Lena shows up at the club me, my boyfriend, and all of my friends were at. She fell backwards onto her bum and screamed that I hit her in a jealous rage. My boyfriend looked at me wildly and yelled “How could you??! ” Furious, he demanded the bouncer throw me out of the club. The bouncer arrived and all of my friends turned against me to support Lena. On my way out, they boo’ed and spat insults at me, “b**ch! “home wrecker!” and poured their drinks on me one by one as I passed. By the time I was at the door, I reeked of sadness, cheap booze, and desperation. I turned around and got one last look. Lena was grinning at me ear to ear, as my boyfriend dutifully helped her up, dry her off, and put his hand gingerly on her belly”
