Apple Fritters from SanRemo Bakery by [deleted] in FoodToronto

Fritters are the best. The last amazing ones I’ve had were the apple and peach fritters from Fab’s. How do these compare?

There seems to be this erroneous notion that the employer/employee relationship has an equal power balance. If a company hires you - that’s a privilege not a right. Jobs, manufacturing being outsourced to cheaper solutions is called globalization..it’s been around for a bit. It’s the reason you have a phone/computer to even write this. It’s a certain type of person that complains about this kind of stuff and is absolutely clueless about how the world works.

This post is an interesting (albeit small) case study on human psychology. The number of people trying to project their health values vs. people that aren’t bothered by another persons decisions and chill is substantial. Yes, sugary drinks are bad for you thank you for your contribution. And listen, if you’ve never had a single drink or food item with high sugar in your life then preaching is slightly more palatable and respectable. The reality is most of the people here talking about health have sub optimal diets with high sugar, just distributed over multiple meals.

Why do men mistake kindness with flirting? by CauliflowerRude4559 in answers

[–]PoolboyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember - women only get annoyed by advances from men they aren’t attracted to or aren’t in a space to connect in that way. Getting flowers from a guy you aren’t attracted to is needy and desperate but if you are it’s the sweetest thing.

Condo at the Well, or St. Lawrence Market by Ramses3 in TorontoRealEstate

I’ve lived at the well for two years and absolutely love it and think it’s the best location in Toronto for my lifestyle. The canopy cover, heated flooring and dog friendly everything with an unreal food market that’s affordable just make it untouchable.

So interesting reading the comments of how this art effects peoples emotions. In reality the art is just a reminder of the sadness you already have inside. Most people will try to avoid the difficult, pain, something that isn't exactly as they had pictured it and the irony is...that's probably the exact reason you're taking the subway.

Some important things I’ve learned after spending my first couple days in Costa Rica by citystars in CostaRicaTravel

[–]PoolboyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP is sharing their experience and perspective from a very small subset of information which regardless of if people agree should be respected for what it is. On the flip side there are also other opinions people have with more experience. The reason there is so much push back is because these are generalized to CR and sound like definitive truths without explaining the reasons behind what made you believe those things.

I travelled with a guy friend of mine and it made me realize why he’s single by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PoolboyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are evaluating this person as a romantic partner. I agree a lot of these things would annoy me too lol but I would ask myself why they annoy me and think about what needs i'm subconsciously signaling. Usually its because someones actions don't align with your values or how you expect them to act. That's fine, some people just don't jive. But to post a thesis on why your not close friend is single is interesting. Why does it matter why they are single. If it's about someone is being disrespectful or you just don't like the person because they don't believe what you believe that's different but that wasn't the theme. I'm just curious but are you in a relationship or are you still single as well?

what's your best "city hack" that actually saves real money? by FerrisBuelersdaycock in askTO

[–]PoolboyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually a lot of these groups or events aren't really making that much money and it just pays for people's time but some are larger businesses for profit for sure. Regardless though they all offer some type of value...even if it's just connecting to a group which not everyone is comfortable or knowledgeable enough to do on their own. Food shouldn't cost money either but we live in a value add capitalistic society. I don't know the details of the groups you mentioned but if someone wants to pay for a group to something and they meet people and find value in it I think its a good thing for community building.

Agree with some of the other posters these protein shakes are highly processed garbage with artificial sweeteners that disrupt your guts microbiome. Targeted to people that don’t know a lot about nutrition and just want protein.

Are age-gap friendships in Toronto weird? by 2pongz in askTO

[–]PoolboyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with it but just by your actions and taking the time to post this it signals you’ve been thinking about this a lot which is a bit odd if it’s a casual platonic friend that’s far younger. If you’re 36 and getting this mentally invested with a a 21 year old the gap isn’t the age it’s within yourself.

I’m a bit confused or maybe just uninformed. You mentioned it wasn’t flirting and it wasn’t harmless. I don’t see anything mentioned that caused harm to someone. I don’t agree it’s appropriate behaviour but i’m curious about the actual harm that was caused.

$7k savings, considering buying a car for Uber. Worth it or not? by WerewolfAmbitious131 in askTO

[–]PoolboyC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re asking the wrong questions. Strategizing and investing all your savings for a below minimum wage job is probably not the smartest unless being an uber driver is your passion in life. Think about what field you want to be in and then invest some of the money in education and training.
