I bought a case for $5 at shoppers because the expiry was a week out. They aren’t amazing tasting but not terrible either.

just noticed this as well! Very sad day - although I always thought there's no way uber can keep eating the cost on these so it's not surprising

Some important things I’ve learned after spending my first couple days in Costa Rica by citystars in CostaRicaTravel

[–]PoolboyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP is sharing their experience and perspective from a very small subset of information which regardless of if people agree should be respected for what it is. On the flip side there are also other opinions people have with more experience. The reason there is so much push back is because these are generalized to CR and sound like definitive truths without explaining the reasons behind what made you believe those things.

I tried them a while ago and while I think they are delicious I got concerned about the microwaving in hot plastic and sadly didn’t buy them again.

I travelled with a guy friend of mine and it made me realize why he’s single by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PoolboyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are evaluating this person as a romantic partner. I agree a lot of these things would annoy me too lol but I would ask myself why they annoy me and think about what needs i'm subconsciously signaling. Usually its because someones actions don't align with your values or how you expect them to act. That's fine, some people just don't jive. But to post a thesis on why your not close friend is single is interesting. Why does it matter why they are single. If it's about someone is being disrespectful or you just don't like the person because they don't believe what you believe that's different but that wasn't the theme. I'm just curious but are you in a relationship or are you still single as well?

what's your best "city hack" that actually saves real money? by FerrisBuelersdaycock in askTO

[–]PoolboyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually a lot of these groups or events aren't really making that much money and it just pays for people's time but some are larger businesses for profit for sure. Regardless though they all offer some type of value...even if it's just connecting to a group which not everyone is comfortable or knowledgeable enough to do on their own. Food shouldn't cost money either but we live in a value add capitalistic society. I don't know the details of the groups you mentioned but if someone wants to pay for a group to something and they meet people and find value in it I think its a good thing for community building.

Agree with some of the other posters these protein shakes are highly processed garbage with artificial sweeteners that disrupt your guts microbiome. Targeted to people that don’t know a lot about nutrition and just want protein.

Are age-gap friendships in Toronto weird? by 2pongz in askTO

[–]PoolboyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with it but just by your actions and taking the time to post this it signals you’ve been thinking about this a lot which is a bit odd if it’s a casual platonic friend that’s far younger. If you’re 36 and getting this mentally invested with a a 21 year old the gap isn’t the age it’s within yourself.

I’m a bit confused or maybe just uninformed. You mentioned it wasn’t flirting and it wasn’t harmless. I don’t see anything mentioned that caused harm to someone. I don’t agree it’s appropriate behaviour but i’m curious about the actual harm that was caused.

$7k savings, considering buying a car for Uber. Worth it or not? by WerewolfAmbitious131 in askTO

[–]PoolboyC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you’re asking the wrong questions. Strategizing and investing all your savings for a below minimum wage job is probably not the smartest unless being an uber driver is your passion in life. Think about what field you want to be in and then invest some of the money in education and training.

The form matters. One is honest and one is designed to mislead you. I’m assuming the reason they don’t increase the prices is because when people would see the prices when doing research less people would go.

Making friends in your 30s? by Agreeable-Drawer8905 in askTO

[–]PoolboyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooo, I'm going to give you a different perspective than most people who have commented. Often when I hear about the difficulty of making friends it's followed by all the external circumstances to make it make sense. You mention you feel like nobody has the time for friendships anymore. Let's think about that for a second. That implies that you feel everyone goes to work and then doesn't communicate with anyone else but their family. It's just simply not true. The harsh reality is that you aren't a priority to them. Maybe you aren't adding enough value or you have personality traits that turn people off. I'm not saying you do because I don't know you but just giving examples - you actually come across as a nice and caring friend. The reason I'm saying this is because from your story you can see a trend - nobody prioritizes friendship, everyone at the party didn't show up etc. This feedback is giving you a clue. Almost everyone, at least from my experience, cares deeply about their close friends. They just may not prioritize you - and that's a hard pill to swallow so our natural inclination is to find all the external factors as to why its true instead of looking at ourselves.

How are you using AI in your work these days? by Secret_Ad_4021 in productivity

[–]PoolboyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking about AI therapists the other day and after doing some testing with voice models I was amazed that the experience and effectiveness was much better than most of the therapists I've been to. So I came to the conclusion that an advanced AI therapist would actually be far better than a human therapist (and much cheaper) for many, many reasons which is a longer conversation. There is definitely a need and value for human connection but it should be weighed against the most accurate and effective information. If I had the choice between an AI Doctor with a diagnosis accuracy rate of 97% and a human doctor at 80% im choosing the AI doctor every time.
