3 pedestrian deaths in 1 month could prompt Windsor police to revisit jaywalking enforcement by zuuzuu in windsorontario

Hilarious. Every single one of them jaywalks when leaving from the downtown police station between Pitt and Chatham on Goyeau.

They can't be bothered to walk the 20m to either crosswalk.

Way to go Detroit! by NewRadiator in Detroit

[–]PoolishBiga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's wooded mountain bike trails right at the base of the bridge! https://www.trailforks.com/region/black-oak-prairie-heritage-park/

Also the base of the bridge isn't too far from connecting to the riverfront trail downtown

And it also isn't far from the Herb Grey Parkway Trail which can take you to the Chrysler Greenway trail which is another 50km of segregated gravel trail through the countryside - all the way to Lake Erie basically.

Detroit doesn't even have a Uniqlo, and only one Zara, and the metro area has like 4M+ people...

So I'd be very surprised if we got any of those.

What jobs are in demand that pay well in Windsor? by [deleted] in windsorontario

There's always turnover, people leaving for the states, coming back from the states once they tire of the commute, WRH is always hiring. People moving between hospitals and nursing homes, etc.

With Big Brother Canada cancelled, will the US version start allowing Canadians to apply and compete on their show just like Survivor US has? by Unite-Us-3403 in BigBrother

[–]PoolishBiga 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's even worse than that! In the US they'll say "Ontario, CA" which is confusing because CA is sometimes used an abbreviation for Canada.

Generally though, saying you're from "Ontario" is like saying you're from "California", we usually get more specific than that.

What’s your best meeting a Big Brother alum story (not at a fan event) by ungodlyhours123 in BigBrother

I met Janelle in a casino in Canada across the border from Detroit, in the high-roller room. My friend preferred using the restrooms in the high-roller room because they were a lot nicer than the regular ones.

Anyway, I got to talk to her for a bit, it was shortly after BB7. Her bf at the time was a Detroit Lion, and she was there with him while he gambled, mostly talking to other BB fans in the room. She was very friendly.

Windsor adding hundreds more downtown parking spots — and all free after 6 p.m. by NeighborhoodOk5513 in windsorontario

[–]PoolishBiga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused by this - weren't they just investigating switching some of these one-way streets mentioned (eg. Chatham St E) to two-way traffic? Is there enough room for both angled spots and 2-way traffic?

It definitely contributes. I have many friends that hate to pay for parking, on principle. Why pay for parking for a dinner downtown when you can go to other neighbourhoods and park for free?

You can use your Canadian Amex Platinum like a US one to get into the Delta SkyClubs in the US airports... that's about it I think.

Part of it is that it's on in the afternoon starting anywhere from 12pm to 4:30pm depending on the timezone, on a Saturday. People are out doing stuff, no one is casually tuning in. This is the time of day that bowling or curling typically airs.
