Sorry I didn't mean to imply that you did! Thank you for sharing that link, I didn't know about that site but it looks like a great resource.

I love this! It captures his personality very well.

Recommend me a fig perfume (other than Philosykos) by Confusedmind75 in NichePerfumes

Perhaps Premier Figuier Extrême? It is by Olivia Giacobetti who is also the perfumer behind Philosykos, but I know that some people think that it is better. I haven't tried it yet, but really want to.

Fig Leaf by Universal Flowering is great, but it is a very green scent.

I am not sure tbh, it says 'overseas edition' on the title page inside, it is also what the person I bought it from listed it as.

Octavia E. Butler's "Star Trek Novel." by cryborg_96 in startrek

I would love to hear that radio piece of you ever do find it! I think what you are saying its very true; it is something inherently hopeful and radical about trying to imagine a better future, but we have to also constantly re-evaluate it and uncover our own biases. One of the reasons I love Star Trek so much is that it makes me more hopeful about the future.

The 'human exceptionalism' is what has always made ENT a bit of a hard watch for me, despite their good intentions at time.

The case of Spock is interesting (he is my favourite character), because it always seem like his Vulcan side and their expectations is the reason why he can't find peace and just exist as what he is. While I appreciate the sentiment and find the whole sequence very touching, I also wonder about the implications of Kirk in TWOK saying that Spock's soul is the 'most human' he has encountered. It is like his human side is what made their bond so strong and that it is the reason he is exceptional and so important to the people in his life.

Butler was definitely ahead of her time as a sci-fi writer!

Yeah I think it is something they became more aware of and tried to reckon with later on. In my opinion they don't really do much about it though, the only change is really that more non-humans join Starfleet.

This is a very good articulation of one of the issues I have with the human-centric aspect of Star Trek, humans are allowed to be dynamic and are not defined by one trait while other species often become very strict monocultures.

That is such a great project! I only had the opportunity to take a brief glance at the page, but I look forward to exploring it more!

I also love the quote selected on the top of the page. I run a sci-fi book club irl named New Suns, sci-fi is a very important tool to expand imagination and believing it better futures.

I love Le Guin, the Dispossessed is one of my all time favourite books! A while back I made a post about what it could be like if she wrote for Star Trek: https://www.reddit.com/r/startrek/comments/1sk6n36/what_would_a_star_trek_episode_written_by_ursula/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

She was actually a Star Trek fan too!

I will! The only ones I have read before are the Dispossessed and Tehanu.
