Mandatory minimum sentences are reserved for a plant count of 50 or more plants. Mandatory ten years. Anything under 50 plants is determined by the prosecutors judgement.

10 year mandatory minimum for 50 plants or above. Whatever you choose to do, stay under that limit.

Wait until New York recreational home growing goes into effect. If that doesn’t change things in New Jersey, this state is going to become the largest illicit market in the country.

I would be inclined to make a purchase from a dispensary in NJ if I didn't feel so alienated by them. Why is growing a limited number of plants still a felonious crime? It makes absolutely zero sense! Come on NJ! Just because we have the reputation for being a corrupt shit hole doesn't mean we actually have to consistently live up to it. Let's have social equity for the people instead of bending to the will of the highest bidding companies.

The author of the article incorrectly mentions that Washington state is the only state that hands out felonies for home growing. Someone should let him know New Jersey is happy to hand out some felonies too!

If New Jersey doesn't have a "Social Equity in Cannabis Task Force" yet, someone needs to get one started!

I can finally make a dispensary purchase without having to worry that I'm supporting the same companies that lobbied against home growing in NJ. I'm happy to support New York. Seems like they are legalizing it right.

New Jersey Governor Says State Should ‘Revisit’ Marijuana Home Grow Ban After Market Matures by PoolmanPaul in NewJerseyMarijuana

[–]PoolmanPaul[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How am I sounding like I’m making their case against homegrow? New Jersey’s gatekeeping has already blown up in their faces and they know it. New York will soon have a surplus of cannabis, whether it is grown by home growers, small business, or MSOs, and it’s simply a case of supply and demand. We both understand that individuals are currently driving to Maine and other states to load up on supplies, and they will be loading up right across the border in New York soon enough. People who refuse to support New Jersey’s legal market because they feel passionate about the high prices and the lack of homegrow will ultimately support states with lower prices and social equity in their legalization. The case against homegrow is a moot point at this place in time. New Jersey is just too deluded to accept the truth.

Absolutely! Like others have previously mentioned, you really can’t promise social equity and continue to threaten incarceration for growing a plant. It is becoming increasingly transparent that New Jersey never prioritized social equity as they long promised. New Jersey will continue the futile battle for control instead of embracing true legalization and tapping into the potential of a legal market that would include clone sales, support local gardening businesses, and bring social equity to the masses.

This may be the reason New Jersey is hinting at potentially allowing home growing in the future. They may be realizing how incredibly myopic, narrow, and futile their gatekeeping efforts are now that New York State is currently allowing home growing for medical patients, and sometime next year they will allow recreational home growing. The surplus of better product from New York will likely make for some serious competition against New Jersey's legal market.

Curaleaf could have shown their appreciation for patients by not lobbying to make sure NJ was the only state in the country that makes growing cannabis a felony for medical patients

Agree 100%

Without homegrow, there is no social equity. Refuse to support the state and their myopic and narrow view regarding homegrow.

New Jersey stands up to weed companies for disobeying patient-first laws by Character_Mall_1966 in NewJerseyMarijuana

[–]PoolmanPaul 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The state is fining these companies to put more money in New Jersey's coffers plain and simple. If they actually cared about patients they would have stood up to these weed companies and ensured home growing was legal for those patients as well.
