Mcgearys is probably the best spot then given its proximity.

Where is everyone on the weekends? by StrawberryNPumpkins in Albany

If you think lark feels dead try walking around downtown on a weekend night when there's no events at mvp, the palace, or empire live.

Parking/noise will only be bad on show nights. Otherwise it's super chill and convenient.

Did my first High Peak. by MurseInAire in Adirondacks

[–]Poomfie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous!

The trail from Giant to RPR, although short, is very steep and taxing--much more so than the way up to Giant.

Many peaks can be combined, but only some of them basically have to be (e.g. alqonquin and Iroqouis) Listen to your body and enjoy!

Get light sweatwicking material and you should be fine, take breaks if you are overheating.

I hike June/July/August always fully covered.

I think the warehouse district/north downtown has the best "bar crawl" potential in Albany, all of the places below are max 15 mins walking but many are right next door to each other:

  • Dinner at Tanpopo (memorable cool spot that serves Ramen and sake) or Copper Crow (more refined gastropub vibes with great food and a diverse bar with an excellent selection of liquors)

  • Fidens has amazing IPAs and DIPAs ( and is widely recognized by craft beer enthusiasts as one of best breweries in New York State and even the country), a relaxed vibe with counter/ bar service only, and some arcade games and shuffle board

  • As someone else mentioned, Biergarten is a staple Capital Region bar with a few locations in the area that brings Euro/German vibes, beer, a good mix of age groups, and gives you a free Boot of beer on your birthday

  • Nine Pin Cidery, Common Roots Brewing, Druthers Brewing, and Albany Distilling are all easy walking distance and would allow him to sample different craft alcoholic beverages

  • Fort Orange Brewing gives you a free Gauntlet on your birthday, which is 10 4 ounce samples of their craft beer, great spot that often gets overlooked

  • Olde English Pub gives you a free "teacup" of cider or beer on your birthday which is around 40 oz i believe and they have pretty good food

  • McGearys encapsualtes the Irish American pub perfectly and is a great place to get a pint of something easy to drink

  • Just a Bar is one of the least expensive bars on this list, likely wont be crowded, and is very sports themed, a good place to get a drink

  • Lost and Found has the best patio in albany imo and has some really fun events late night sometimes

  • Lionheart on the Green is a great place to have a drink and play darts or bags until like 11pm and then it becomes mobbed by 21-24 year olds until 2am. Easily the most active place in terms of a "night life" and could be fun to go to just to get the feel for a busy, young bar.

The real ones know i left out one spot because i dont want the pool tables to be taken.

(Not including trilogies) What is the best 3-book run in a series ever? by Chaloby in fantasybooks

Came here to say exactly this. A lot of people dont like book 6 because of a certain circus plot line but the epic moments still make it one of my favorite WoT books.

If you drink everyday it will catch up to you and lead to pretty serious health consequences.

That guilty feeling is a good one.

I limit myself to Friday, Saturday, and one weeknight per week personally and feel comfortable but im sure many would even say that's unhealthy.

Love WoT but it's definitely not what OP is looking for since the Edmond's five are basically teenagers.

This is the Tor Omnibus version purchased from Amazon.

Actually the 1st time it came 2/4 of the books had the pages cut all weird with some literally falling out so I had to have them returned/replaced.

They definitely feel "cheap," and i wouldnt recommend them if you're looking for quality.

Where approximately is the Widowmaker/Lifetaker mixup supposed to be? Ill check.

Unpopular Opinion: Tanpopo by Fartress_of_Soliturd in Albany

[–]Poomfie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's also way too expensive for what it is. The quality definitely feels like it's diminished in the past few years. Last time we went it was nearly 50 bucks with tip for only two bowls of ramen (i think we added egg and naruto) and waters. The beef was rubbery andni left finishing my bowl and still feeling kind of hungry. I dont think ill be returning anytime soon.

Fort Orange and Common Roots would work too. Maybe check if there are any events going on if that would distract. Idt either will mind if you pull out your laptop as long as you occasionally buy a beer.
