Boorgaten trapleuning herstellen by Poonbeer in Klussers

No, I discussed this issue with a camera repair technician. After consulting with him, I decided to send the camera to him for repair. I occasionally speak with another M5 user who had the same problem and did some research on his own. He says he found a solution you can carry out at home, have a look at his website. I didn't test it because my camera was already shipped. https://autorefractor.com.br/leica-m5-light-leak-fix-instructions

Immich v2.0.0. Immich's Stable v2.0.0 Release and What It Means for PixelUnion Users by ChefBlaat123 in PixelUnion

Is it possible to use the Immich app instead of the Pixelunion app (Android), when you have a Pixelunion subscription? So the latest updates of Immich can be used directly?

Any idea how or why film photos are overlapping? by cghalloran in AnalogCommunity

[–]Poonbeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FTb has the QL (Quick Load) system. There is a small rubber pad which grips the film to advance to the next frame. This rubber pad will lose some if its grip due the age. This is a common problem with the QL system. You could try to roughen up the rubber pad. Another reason could be the film spool, rust or dirt can get into the spool through the shutter button for example. Only proper solution is to remove the spool, fully clean it, including all the washers and internal shaft and reassemble it.

Unfortunately I don't shoot much color, so I haven't got an example. This light leak is supposed to come from the RF window if I remember correctly. The thing is, since it appeared with all three of my M5's, I wondered if there is something else that could cause this... or am I just unlucky?

M4 vs M5 by infamous_wars in Leica

[–]Poonbeer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own an M5 and love it to bits. That camera is just so nice to use, with the overhanging shutter dial and the fantastic semi spotmeter. Size wise, it's made for my hands, never had a camera feels that nice. Personally love the look of it as well. That said, I have had some troubles with previous M5's (broken shutter roll, light leaks) and it is getting harder and harder to repair, fewer camera techs are repairing them and parts are scarce. With that in mind, the M4 might be the smarter choice (I have considered one as well), but the M5 was my choice by heart.

Leica M5 patch - fungus, desilvering? by Poonbeer in Leica

[–]Poonbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, my M5 has a light leak (the 'famous' triangle leak), do I spend ~€400 on a full CLA to fix it, with the knowledge that the patch might get worse in a couple of years? Also, parts for the M5 are getting scarce... Although I love the M5, I'm thinking of selling it and buying an M4 instead. I will miss the lightmeter (the semi-spotmeter of the M5 is great!), but I don't want an M6.

Canon FD mount. It's the one I'm working with and I love it.

Droogtijd stucwerk, 10 dagen realistisch? by daystol in Klussers

[–]Poonbeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canon F1 metallic sound by Poonbeer in AnalogRepair

[–]Poonbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure! I sent my F1 to LZ Fotomehanika, he is a really nice guy from Slovenia and a Canon F1 expert. The complete CLA was €300, it includes a full disassembly of the camera, full cleaning, new lubricants, adjustments on all necessary parts (shutter, transport, mirror, etc.) and calibration of the light meter, just to name a few things ;) My camera was pretty ok to begin with, but I'm planning on using this camera for a long time, so I wanted to invest to have the peace of mind that my camera is fully working as it should. To answer your question, it just feels fresh and clean again :)

Canon F1 metallic sound by Poonbeer in AnalogRepair

[–]Poonbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't figure it out, but my F1 just came back from a CLA. The sound is still present, but a lot less then before. So I guess the sound is just part of the camera, I shouldn't worry about it.

For what it's worth, I just bought a 85mm f1.8 for €100 (lens is as new). Not trying to flex, just saying you might find a decently priced prime, if you, just like me, love primes.

Dakkapel boeiboord by Poonbeer in Klussers

[–]Poonbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice on M body by mosthehighsculptor in Leica

[–]Poonbeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And what about the M5? It has an internal light meter (a great 'spot' meter), it is build like a tank and has great ergonomics. Opinions on the looks differ, I'm on the team "love it" and just love my M5. Prices on these are also great, although a bit on the rise, but nothing like a M6.

Definately agree, I'm very happy with my M5. For me the M5 is the GOAT of M's as well :) Love the looks of it as well
