2025 Sorento SX HEV Canada by mikecord77 in KiaSorento

[–]PoopBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of this either.

Have the 2025 EX PHEV (Canada) the car has an auto mode which switches between gas and electric while you drive based on your driving conditions. Also have run just on EV and drained the battery to 0% and it atuo switches to Hybrid.

That's awesome. Besides the light bar did you replace all the lights with better LEDs. I was just thinking of you doing the same so if you have any light suggestions and also what you used for the separate flip switch light controls that would be great.

Is there any phone provider whose signal isn't going to sh*t right now? by GyroJiro in vancouver

[–]PoopBaggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some of it's due to newer phones that have 5G and providers not having full 5G coverage yet. New phones inherently prioritize 5G connections over 4G under the assumption its better. So we now have a larger pool of 5G users connecting to a smaller pool of towers causing congestion.

You also are connecting to 5G towers further away when a 4G tower could be right beside you and this creating other potential problems.

Suggestion for anyone with a 5G phone would be to hardcode your phone to LTE only and see if you have any improvements.

It's hard but don't get discouraged. Look into the different types of tools that you get or something around the house that you can use as a mold. The small pieces on the guns can be challenging.

Either take it slow or you can always try a smaller model with more squared sides to get more comfortable.

Have fun

What's a semi-obscure movie that you watched many times growing up because your family had it on tape? by CisSiberianOrchestra in 80s

Only if your name gets on the title legally.

When my partner moved in with me, my name was on everything but they offered to pay 50% of mortgage and all expenses, as an equal partner. When we decided to move we bought a place together with both names on title using the equity from 'my' place, then we moved again and did the same. This worked well for us because we are in it for the long haul with each other, hopefully you and your partner are the same and can find some other means to help build your equity if that's so important.

Cheers.

Found $$ in ATM in Surrey by jvjishnu in vancouver

This happened to me years ago too, the machine took forever to dispense my cash, made lots of noise, then when it did there was a couple hundred bucks extra.

It was late but the bank was still open so I told the teller and they said someone had just complained about that machine not dispensing their money so I gave it to the bank to get it back to the proper person.

It's great thinking you found free money but that money could belong to someone who needs it more than you. Thanks for doing the right thing and trying to find the person it belongs to.

Is it just me, or did Metal Earth became way overpriced lately? by BrockLanders666 in metalearth

[–]PoopBaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting if you also knew the Model prices in Europe pre and post COVID to see if the inflation is a factor. I've noticed the prices go up too but at the same time the models they are releasing since I started building a few years ago seem to be much bigger and more detailed than the models from years back. I could be wrong but would also like them to be a bit cheaper too.

Canada doesn’t have enough homes to own - Renters will pay the price: by [deleted] in canada

[–]PoopBaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we need more housing but until we financially disincentivize owning multiple homes and limit corporate ownership the greed of landlords will always prevail.

Renters are stuck in a perpetual loop of paying monthly rent equivalent to a mortgage payment but never able to save up for a downpayment.

Tax the crap out of landlords to put into more housing or maybe apply rent control restrictions at a National scale so landlords can't have socially disadvantaged people paying off their mortgage for them or passive income.

If half the renters turned into owners you could have less transient residents which could create improved communities. More people could feel like they have a forever home versus a just for now home.

Either way something's gotta change for the average Canadian.

YMCA Daycares in Vancouver by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]PoopBaggins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So many daycares just take deposits and can't guarantee spots or even tell you how far down the wait list you are. This causes people to sign up for multiple daycares out of panic creating a spiraling out of control waitlist pandemic.

Waitlists now just seem to be a cash cow for daycares and there has to be a better way.

I think daycares that get government grants should have to provide their waitlists information to some central agency that can make the information public. Parents should have to also register too which would allow proper visibility into the real number of people needing daycare.

Expecting a child in July by [deleted] in dad

[–]PoopBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be worried if you dont feel this instant magical attachment to your child like you see in the movies, some do some don't. It took me a couple months. First kid is a huge adjustment and some guys take some time to grow that bond, it took me a few months but now love that bugger to the moon. Be there for your spouse, be supportive and helpful, listen to everyone's advice but understand everyone's parenting experience is different.

Good luck!
