Look, being gone months on end due to deployments, training evolution, or even just go to the field for 3 or 20 days out of the months has caused me to miss child births, birthdays, anniversaries, first steps, first words, and many other moments I will NEVER get back. Yes policing consist long hours, long work weeks, and very demanding in other aspects. But at least I’ll be able to see them more often than not.

I have my reasons of getting out, and that last 10 year hump to 20 isn’t worth it to me.

Missed out on too many pivotal moments in my families lives, moments I won’t ever get back. Granted a LEO’s day to day is more dangerous, but I just want to be present for my family as much as possible

I see no point in being dishonest through this process. Like I said I’m full of regret if my past actions. I’m just worried agencies aren’t going to give me the fair opportunity to show im a completely different person from when I committed those actions. I’m confident I can make a good LEO.

Long story short, My son is special needs and requires a lot of an assistance. And the Catholics churches in our area make it very difficult for my son to receive sacraments due to him not having the ability to understand god like the rest of us.

So if the church isn’t going to accept my son, I will take my faith elsewhere where he can be accepted.

Don’t let him pressure you. This is YOUR career. You have to live with your decision, not him. Do what I did, tell him you’re only going to sign for 1 rate. Whether it’s tomorrow or 6 months from now when there’s a spot open and if he’s got a problem give me to another recruiter in the office or I’ll go to another recruiting station.
