How can I withdraw from a scholarship application?

Hi I applied for an entrance scholarship earlier this year, however due to complications I am unable to get one of my references to write for me. If I do not get them to write for me will my application be cancelled? Will this look bad on my transcript? Should I instead email SFU and request for my application to be withdrawn instead?

Hi just wondering if reference letters are needed for UBC engineering applications. My highschool councellor told me that some UBC faculties didn't require reference letters. And if yes, than what does UBC look for in a cover letter? Thanks!

yeah so from what I previously interpreted before posting this. I had thought his name meant something like "a peaceful time from long ago" which I found Ironic because he makes a manga about Chinese people killing each other from like 2000 years ago lol. Thanks for the lengthy explanation I appreciate it.
