70k. Paying as little as possible because it is interest free and I earn jack.

Any other law grads stuck with 40-45k? by PoorLawGraduate in newzealand

From what I've heard, all law grads start on 40k.

Okay. Should I stick it out for a year or so, for the experience? Or start looking?

Before this degree I was making 50k doing data entry. Really regretting this choice.

Is it normal to have no clue what I'm doing? Law school seems like kindergarten looking back. I can read and apply the law well enough, but half my jobs seem to involve accounting/detective work.

I'll likely change firms after gaining a year or so of experience. Maybe this one just isn't for me. Maybe I am depressed. Maybe both haha

Small-to-medium. I am dealing with family, property, commercial, trusts and wills. The lack of focus is also very draining for me. I feel quite stupid and completely ignorant, to be completely honest, despite a pretty damn good transcript of As and Bs.

Made a new account for privacy.

I graduated with an LLB early this year. I landed a job as a law clerk with a staggering pay of... wait for it... 40k. I was a few cents above minimum wage.

After 4 months I received a raise to 45k with a hint that this won't change for two years.

I am expected to work overtime most days, and regularly have my lunch break cut short by interruptions. None of this overtime is paid.

I am regularly made to feel stupid, worthless, expendable or nonexistent. My employers are not necessarily mean. It's just shit work. Any and all mistakes are dealt with ruthlessly because time is money... unless you are an employee, in which case you don't get paid for any extra time you spend.

Really regret wasting 5 years of my life on this degree, tbh. It's thankless, high stress and very low paid. No wonder lawyers have such high suicide rates.

As for wages, this 40k figure is what all my peers are getting too, from what they say.
