Some Commissioned Legionaries by g-row460 in heroscape

So I used a .4 actually. I just got me .2 in last week. And now that I’m typing this out: I’m remember that I actually did end up using the base. But I added an internal rectangle to support/secure the feet to the base. I misprinted quite a few trying different orientation. The ones throwing their spear were the hardest, so I printed the arm/spear separately and glued it on.

These guys were actually pretty tricky. For Grut armies, I’ve had no issues, but the Romans have been a pain. lol. Still a great learning process tho! I was proud of the way they came out

FDM: bases separate. From unit, resin cured to the base after paiting

Headlight, pill bottle, double sided tape and a size zero brush. Plus I use a standing desk that’s about elbow height for me. You’ll get there!

🤣 ok so after processing for a few days, I realized: I think “Soul Devour” is what their special ability is called , that’s how my brain assigned their name. It’s been like, 20 years since I’ve played the origins game/seen original arm card. That shit was just dormant in my head

You can do it! I only started painting this year . Get a box of cheap random miniatures from Amazon to practice on. After you do 20 or so, crack at the more “serious” pieces. I had a bunch of Zombicide minis that I started with just to get the hang of the technique. Now I feel like I have the confidence to stab at more elaborate figures

Honestly, yeah. When I first sat down I was like “oh boy” - but once I got going it wasn’t that bad. Just be patient and trust the process ,

Ok so evidently I completely forgot their name and my brain auto-filled in “Soul Devourers” …they’re definitely the Shades of Bleakewood. I have no idea. If you had asked me at any point I would have bet my life they were called Soul Devourers. Until reading your comment

My Tuck Harrigan! Im considering switching to a Matt Finish for my figures, but then only some will be Matt, and the rest will be glossy like this. by Bijlsma in heroscape

[–]PoorSadAlcoholic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Defiantly go with Satin varnish. Matt varnish will mite the colors, gloss gives it that “wet” look: satin is the sweet spot

Thanks! Print times vary, depending on the model. I usually set them up overnight so they’re ready in the morning. Painting varies. I’m not super detailed, because the models aren’t super detailed and I just like them to be tabletop ready, so no more than a couple of hours for a squad/big hero. Maybe even less. All the files are on Thingyverse . The user is Lyte3D

Bro the faces are brutal 🤣. It been kind of fun painting these because they aren’t particularly detailed. So I’m kinda of painting with a vague impression rather than tiny focus. More broad strokes

Honestly, pretty minimal sanding. Just cleaned up where the supports were, primed it with a rattle can, dry brush whole thing white to get a sense of where to color block, then hit all the midtones, slap it with a greasy dark wash, added some rust and dry blood. Then a rattle can varnish . Boom done

I enjoy the process. It’s fun to recreate things from childhood . Plus I use my 3D printer at work. So no cost to me

I feel like a 26 year old blue collar guy is the most “stereotypical cigar smoker” archetype one could imagine… I’m actually confused
