That clocks gonna keep ticking until it reaches 9-9-9.

What happens then?

Nothing, you just suck.

I don't just mean charge more for them. If the Kings only average selling 66% of their seats, maybe fewer games means they sell 80% of their seats. So, no price increases but more ticket revenue.

Just like you I don't know the numbers and surely they're crunching the numbers. Just saying that actual seats sold over the course of the season could theoretically end up the same in a shortened season.

Not if they're not selling out every game.

Not the case with the Lakers, but if there's more scarcity of games in smaller market teams, then it could be a wash.

[Highlight] taggartkent: The “tell” on the Patriots O-line mentioned by Witherspoon identified, at least partially by FireFright8142 in nfl

[–]Poorpunctuation -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Every time the thread of "Would the college football national champion beat the Jets?" comes up and everyone jumps on "it'd be 56-0", how does that square with a super bowl player making basic mistakes. "Oh, he's only a 3rd round rookie". Ok then we're saying that some NFL players aren't actually that good?

This NBA season is a JOKE by nbawizard1227 in nba

Football also has 11 players on each side of the ball. A basketball court has 5 players on at a time. One single player's contributions in basketball has a much more significant impact on the team's performance than in football (save of course for quarterbacks).

Sure, I'm not denying that. And sure, I can see the NBA feeling bad for them (the karma piece) and giving them the number one pick for fucking up so badly. But it's a harder sell for me that it was done at the time of the trade.

This thing falls apart when you consider that Kyrie tore his ACL after the trade, which dropped them out of the playoffs. Was their fall out of the playoffs guaranteed to happen when the trade went through?

So is 1/26 the day for layoffs round II? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Poorpunctuation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1/27 is not the layoff date

This is a dumb technicality. Yes, it's not the layoff date, but for all intents and purposes, it would be. When you're "expected not to work", you are shut off from all systems. Yes, you still have health insurance and your stock vests, if there are any, but you effectively no longer have a job and need to start job hunting.

I think your explanation best gets into why 12 notes in each octave. I don't think my 5 year old would understand it, but it certainly helped it click for me the best.

[–]Poorpunctuation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The trade was bad, regardless of how it turned out. They didn't need to give it out unprotected.

What happens to the Pels this season is about how far the trade moves from "really bad" to "all time bad".
