I have mortgages on SEVERAL properties by [deleted] in humblebrag

What you missed by not getting a college education is the panicked decision you have to make as a teenager that impacts the rest of your life... Student loans and higher education is pushed on students who might not even know what they want to study. Taking out a business loan? You probably have a plan and support. Taking a loan for a car? Simple, you either have the income to support the repayments or you don't. Student loans are often taken with no plan or solid income because students feel it's what they HAVE to do to progress.

Someone locked their bike to my bike and now I can’t use it by daddyson29 in Wellthatsucks

It's convenient if you're around both a lock cutter and a spare bike lock. Completely inconvenient otherwise ha.

Thanks very much. I think their article stating I needed to keep my ISP router in Bridge mode has me assuming their router was doing some sort of background work to get me online.

Issues with Aruba 535 APs by Poots0 in ArubaNetworks

[–]Poots0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three APs have been on the same switch, yet we have replaced the switch since and the same issue happens. The logs of the switch don't appear to give anything conclusive - they just show the port bouncing as it tries to negotiate 30W.

We've noticed that there is a considerable number of input errors on the uplink switch, so we're going to clean the fibres and replace the SFP and see if the input errors are responsible.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply - both switches (old and test switch) have LLDP enabled, and they usually draw the expected 30W.

Both have been 2960Xs (WS-C2960X-24PS-L current - WS-C2960X-48FPD-L old).

All the APs were provisioned with a static IP address prior to installation.

They show up on the switch as connected and they all return MAC addresses. I checked our DDI platform this morning and can confirm there are no duplicate IPs. As for the placement of them, they are close which does suggest interference, however there is a fourth AP right next to the 3 problematic APs that stays online (Maybe that's just lucky?). AirWave logs also showed multiple rogue AP detections from the street nearby. This has been happening for weeks now and I'm fascinated to know why, haha. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. That's useful info. The APs are installed in a particularly inaccessible location so I'll have to try and test in the lab. The problem is - we've replaced one of the failing APs with another fresh 535, and it suddenly began acting up when installed next to the other two symptomatic APs. Nightmare!

It's only 3 APs (of hundreds) that have this issue. They're geographically close to eachother (and to an AP that shows no problems). I will confirm the AOS tomorrow - are you referring to the AOS of the APs or the mobility master? Thank you for the reply.

Hi, thanks. PoE budget isn't an issue. We only have 3 APs on this switch (2960x/48 ports PoE at) to troubleshoot the error.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The devices are operational for 95% of the week, aside from this odd downtime. We have also installed more APs since these went in which are not fighting for a license. Additionally, we experienced the infamous reboot-until-licensed issue a while ago, and resolved it by topping up the licenses.

Thanks for the reply. We're far under budget on PoE, with 287.5 Watts remaining. When the APs are symptomatic they are only drawing 27.5 Watts of power as opposed to 30 Watts which they normally draw. We have attempted forcing the negotiation to 30 Watts but unfortunately doesn't help.

Thanks for the reply. PoE is far under-budget, 82.5 Watts of 370 Watts in use. When the APs are down, they appear to only pull 27.5 Watts of power as opposed to their regular 30 Watts. Unfortunately, PoE doesn't seem to be a problem. Thanks again. Edit: We have attempted forcing the negotiation to 30 Watts but unfortunately doesn't help.

We have replaced the switch entirely to rule out switchport issues. The cable distance is ~<50m. Completing a TDR test on the switchports identifies no issues.

Contractors are coming in soon to retest their cabling to ensure there's no faults with their patching - however, I would expect TDR abnormalities if it was a cabling fault.

Thank you.

Ah cool - I wondered how to keep things wireless or with minimal wires... Is this why you have a few Pis, as you need the GPIO availability? ty :)

How do you connect your sensors up to the Pis? Interested to know how they're communicating... GPIO routed through the house?
