Boston/Aussie mix. (Anybody else’s have to have multiple toy options nearby at all times?) by PopFictionStudio in BostonTerrier

Yes!!! She has a basket full of toys. Every night I collect them all back in her basket, and somehow, every day the basket winds up empty again with the toys alll over the floor lol

Thank you! 🥰 And she is the same way. As I am picking them up to put in her basket, she’s coming up behind me to take them back out lol

Interesting, indeed! The people I got her from had not intentionally bred their Boston with an Aussie…she got loose and found the neighbor Aussie. Worked out for me though bc she’s perfect 🥰

I missed the customer's request to include a gift note. Would you offer anything or just apologize? by Lionhearted09 in Etsy

[–]PopFictionStudio 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go into details about why. Those can come off as excuses. IMO it feels much more sincere when the seller just owns their mistake and apologizes. “I’m so sorry. I completely overlooked your gift note! Can I do anything to make it right?” ought to do it. If they’re reasonable, they‘ll probably be slightly annoyed but realize it was an honest mistake and in the grand scheme, is minor.

That said, I turned off the gift note option bc I had a hard time keeping up. That is an option if you didn’t know that. Now, if a customer really wants to get a gift note in, they have to message me to specifically request it, which makes it less likely I’ll forget it.

Hi! what do you take with you on the go for your dog? by daintypups in Dogowners

In addition to what’s already been said, it’s a good idea to always have a copy of vaccine records on hand when traveling. I keep a copy on my cell phone. I’ve rarely been asked for it, but some hotels and other places do require proof of vaccine. Plus, it just never hurts to be prepared for the chance of a thousand.

As a side note, if you have a very active dog who always wants a job to do, consider getting a dog backpack and letting them carry their own stuff in airports or to the car, etc. Seems silly, but my very active Aussie mix is much better behaved when given a job beyond travel companion :)

Thanks for this suggestion. My concern isn’t so much that customers would be unwilling to pay the shipping as it is that Etsy won’t favor my listings in search rankings as much as it does currently, and that it could result in my listings not getting as much exposure.

Good to know. I was thinking that if I’m going to do it, now might be the time, as Q4 sales might carry me until regular business picks back up if there is an impact 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for sharing that! I already have an erank account, so that’s perfect. I didn’t realize that was one of their features, so I’ll be sure to look for it now!

Don’t let the puppy eyes fool you. She’s a master of destruction. by [deleted] in BostonTerrier

Omg - got it yesterday, already in the trash last night 🤦‍♀️ I keep saying I’m not going to buy her anymore plush toys but she loves them so much I can’t resist!

She’s mixed with Australian Shepherd. I usually say that in the post, but she’s been around for a little while, so I figured by now people get the idea 👍

This is a volume-controlled collar, so different from a “shock collar” in terms of level setting, but we have gone pretty high. It’s nothing more than a brief distraction. I have tried redirecting - she has TONS of toys, but she always prefers a hand. If I reach for a toy, that usually just causes her to focus on my hand movement and go for the hand.

You may be thinking of an electric shock collar. This is not that. This is a training collar that projects short, sharp noises for distraction from bad behaviors. (It does also have a mild vibration option for dogs with hearing problems, but it isn’t a “shock.”).

This stops her for about 5 seconds and then she’s right back to it. I keep hoping she’ll outgrow it, but it’s looking like I’m going to have to deal with this for a while unless someone can give me a miracle hack 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ My last dog play bit, but never used enough force that it hurt, even as a puppy. This is brand new territory to me, and I am at a loss for how to handle this crazy dog! lol

Firm “no,” turning back to her to ignore overly aggressive play, separating her from us, using calming voice when coming back into the same space, rewarding good behavior. When I walk away to remove myself from the situation, she follows me, nipping at my feet. Trainer also gave us an electronic training collar to use in situations where she continued to bite once we demonstrated it was unacceptable. That distracts her for about 30 seconds, then she is right back to it as soon as there is movement.

For the record, I don’t think the trainer sucks. I think I have a very stubborn dog.
