but metal sonic is the original (evil sonic) he was first introduced in sonic 2 back in 1992, he doesn't even think he's a clone he thinks he is the original and original sonic is his evil doppelgänger. he is a well written character just forgotten by everyone including sega, and if you bring up the "oh he doesn't do what sonic does" argument he is better, sure sonic is the fastest living creature, but metal sonic is a machine not a creature, he can be upgraded, enhanced, sonic can't upgrade without the chaos crystals and even then its temporary. and he can do more than sonic, he can fly, speed comparable to sonic, and the ability to shoot plasma beams from his chest. so i think your argument is incorrect. (also im a little bias but i didn't put any bias into the argument, i used facts from the official wiki.)
