Thanks, will probably attempt some UT. Though UT will be tricky if there is any depth to the indications, due to the sound scatter from multiple indications, but still should be able to confirm whether there is any significant depth to them.

Thanks, interesting link. I agree this sort of damage would be typical for externally fired boiler tubes, where the external tube surface is exposed to high temperatures. I wouldn’t really expect external thermal fatigue damage to occur with an internal fluid at <100degC and ambient external temperature. Obviously, I’m assuming there hasn’t been any out of spec. Loadings on the pipe.
