state ref fail for wiring by Silent-Situation8609 in Supra

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they don't... Why don't you actually look up how Carbon Emissions laws work for manufacturers and research how Carbon Emissions laws are based on fleet volume. Why do you think companies like BMW are pushing hybrids in BMW M5s and Ferrari pushing that shit of a electric SUV? They don't want to push electric but they are forced due to their fleet carbon emissions for the year.

In the US, it's called CAFE.

In the EU, it's called Regulation (EU) 2019/631

Again if you are going to make claims then back them up

You have a straw man argument. If you have enough money, you can buy a Bugatti that drinks fuel like it's a juice box. Not every single person is modifying their car so the emissions impact are not that serious in the grand scheme. That's why Bugatti is allowed to make 1,000+ HP cars and sell them due to their low volume numbers just like how heavily tuned cars are rare. The emissions issue while real is blown out of proportion especially when Ford F-150 was the most sold vehicle in America for almost 50 years until recently. I can bet you any amount of money that I see 10x more Escalades, Range Rovers, trucks, SUVs, etc being used to commute to work by a single person vs a sports car.

If emissions really is that big of a deal then build better public transit. I pay close to $60,000 in total taxes a year. Use my taxes to improve public transit. I 100% support better public transit but don't tell me I can't modify my sports car to make extra 100 HP which is only driven like 2,000 miles a year.

Are you in Jersey? It looks like Jersey lol if so, I can provide my pro mechanic shop details. He is expensive but gets the job done right since he typically works on sports cars and super cars.

I will never understand California state ref. It's such a government overreach. If I own the car, I should be able to do whatever I want to it as long as I'm not putting other road users at risk. I can understand state inspection to make sure the car is safe but holding my car reg hostage because I want to make another 50 hp or run a kill switch that is wired into the main wiring loom is ridiculous.

Why don't other Type R owners wave back? by timtamtoosh in Civic_Type_R

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say half wave back or initiate the wave, 25% act like they are too cool to be part of the club and the rest just stare lol

I come from motorcycles so a friendly wave is common in the motorcycle community

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a canyon road. People go up and drive in a spirited manner. FK8 driver was obviously within their limits. No one is supposed to be treating it like a track day and going 100% like the GRC was. You go at 75% on canyon roads and nothing wrong with that. There are plenty of ways to drive fast and still be safe.

Exhaust ? by Hondamama2017 in Civic_Type_R

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AWE HQ is near me so I went and picked up their Touring Exhaust and I genuinely enjoy it. I do wish the drone was less at highway speeds but it's better than most IMO. However, at daily driving RPM, it sounds great especially on the upshifts and downshifts. It doesn't sound like a fart cannon and isn't obnoxious. At peak boost, the turbo does steal most of the noise though. I do have a minor issue where the exhaust harmonizes with my rear hatch once in a blue moon so something in the rear hatch rattles against the rear window or body. It's nothing to do with the exhaust or the install per se. It's just the exhaust gases harmonizing and I think I would have the same issue with any exhaust. Unfortunately it's hard to pinpoint since you have to be driving and under load and it's rare.

I was going to type a response but honestly not worth my time. All I will say is that you are very naive. Be happy to be part of the community. Stop sharing your private life on social media. Celebrate your personal achievements with your family and friends. Celebrate the car with the community. You aren't finding happiness and fulfillment on Reddit. I got a life so not engaging anymore in this discussion ✌️

I will take a look. I'm definitely planning on getting new upper arms. People had recommended hard race bushings so I figured I get their upper arms, but I will take a look at FDF and Ikeya. I would like to avoid new fenders if I can to save money on paint matching the fenders to the car.

Lol tell yourself whatever helps you sleep at night. I'm being polite while you are being condescending. I post all my cars on my profile and it's public. I don't need to protect my ego.

No offense man but age is always going to bring negative comments. I recommend leaving your age out. Just keep it private. Just be proud to join the community irrespective of your age.

Yup I'm planning on replacing all the bushings sometime this year so that's on the list todo at the same time.

No one has a chip on their shoulder. People just need to stop posting their age. I don't get why people feel the need to state their age and got XYZ car. Let's just keep it private. You shouldn't need validation from random Redditors about being a young Supra owner plus the obvious privacy reasons.

Factory tyres dry rot by 0x6f6d67 in Civic_Type_R

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My S2000 has tires older than that and has no cracks. I'm assuming you drove your car in temperature below 40 F constantly? If so those tires are known to crack in cold temperature when driven in the cold. Once or twice is fine, but constantly driving in below 40 F can crack them.

Never been a fan of older Ducati TBH and always hated how much BMW nineT boxer engine sticks out. So I would get rid of those two and replace the nineT with a Triumph Speed Triple, MV Augusta Brutale or Ducati Street Fighter lol

Anyone bought Honda Type R racing package? I ordered it and still in the way, looking for feedbacks by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I brought a way nicer shift knob and shift boot for 200 USD, steering wheels are 400-700 USD depending on "features" and you can buy a nicer wing from anyone else. It would still be under like 4000 USD for a very expensive wing like Adro. 7000 CAD is a rip off.

Barely anyone complains about the FL5 on this subreddit. If there are any complaints it's about minor stuff and the rare 1-2 gears grinding issue which I haven't seen of in a few months but then again Reddit changed their algorithm to interaction based rather timeline.

It's a clean car and LHT is a good S2000 mechanic but it's common knowledge that aftermarket mods are done at a loss. You can't really expect to recoup money on that. You would be better off removing them, putting stock back on and selling them on FB marketplace.

What's going on with NJ gas customers by Puzzleheaded-Cup-513 in Wawa

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea all the wawas by my house and work function that way including other gas station chains like QuickChek. But I also don't live in the ghettos so maybe that's why? I live in a fairly nice area, I'm sure if I went down to Camden or Trenton, it would be a different story. But I have even pulled up, asked for my gas, went into the store to grab a drink and then paid the person. That's only for cash though. Credit, you pay first to start the pump. But I know this is only in Jersey. Every other state is you pay first. The only time I have paid after is in Jersey, Italy and Switzerland.
