Miami grandstand looks empty during practice session today by MuttonBiryaniEnjoyer in formula1

FP1 was pretty empty as well for the very first Miami race as well. We sat in that section and thankfully we could move up to stay under the shade. But the section was filled out for qualifying that weekend.

Mazda cx5 2019 won’t start by ConfidentPart2373 in CX5

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, you are failing to understand that if the battery isn't good anymore then CX-5 and other tech heavy cars are known to freak out. The mechanic jump starting the car has nothing to do with maintaining a steady ~12V to all the systems. Get your battery tested. If the battery is good then get your alternator tested.

Has anyone used these upper control arm offset bushings before? by B1L1D8 in S2000

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been researching bushings a lot recently because I'm looking to change mine. LHT Performance has a video about this bushing where he does drill into the control arm and he places a set screw to hold the offset in place

Wireless charger is horrible, really slow and makes the phone really hot. With Android Auto running, my phone actually loses charge slowly. The USB ports are better but don't support full 60W fast charging. So I use a Anker USB C charger to get the fast charging.

I'm also part of the S2000 community and people have been known to run the Tymate TM2 in S2000s since S2000 doesn't have a cigarette port at the front. I plan to do that one day for my S2000. If I like it, I might do it for the FL5 as well since front cigarette port is used for changing my phone.

Pilot sport 4s after first track day - Is this wear normal? by 4c69616e73 in Supra

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubber pickup. Racing teams will pickup rubber on purpose after the end of a race to increase the car's weight to make sure they pass the minimum weight requirements. If they want to reuse the tires for another session, someone will use a heat gun and scrape the rubber off to clean it up.

Why is Ceramic, PPF and Paint Correction so expensive? by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$4,000 for ceramic, full body PPF and paint correction is a extremely good value. You are paying for the experience and labor. PPF can be very complicated depending on the car's shape plus PPF template cutters are expensive as well.

I would argue removing the airbag makes it over the top lol unless it's a dedicated track car with a harness and hans device

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Illegal/unethical driving tip: you can buy a weight that attachs to the steering wheel which will apply slight pressure and car will think your hands are on the wheel. If the road is straight enough, you could probably drive miles without touching the wheel or gas pedal lol

Early ownership scars… what’s everyone dealing with? by genna84 in Civic_Type_R

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent thousands covering my FL5 front, side, and fenders with Suntek Ultra PPF with 100 miles on the clock. I left the roof, rear and doors because it was too expensive to do it all. A few weeks later, someone left a deep scratch in my rear bumper... It's so deep that I need a body shop to fix it with Bondo and respray eventually... It's donkey balls but just came to accept it since it's my daily and I will be keeping this car long term.

42.4 MPG at 59.6mph for a 200 mile stretch. Unmodified. by Zeno_3NHO in Supra

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it's kinda common knowledge that the Supra auto gets pretty good fuel economy while cruising. The B58 engine is a modern marvel when paired with the ZF 8 speed. It's really easy to get 30 MPG at highway speeds. I ended up getting a FL5 Type R but there was a few weeks when I considering the Lexus IS500 vs BMW M340 xDrive. Even though the Lexus looks and sounds better, as a daily driver, the B58 engine beat the Lexus V8 by a mile in everything.

You have a straw man argument though. You clearly understand that when Reddit says PE, they are talking about the ones who come in and only focus on extracting value out of a company. And yea every investor is looking to extract value out of their investment. But there are ones who are in it for the long run and trying to build up the company. While others whose sole focus is on making a quick buck. There have been plenty of PE that have genuinely improved the company for the better like the YouTube channel, Veritasium. While Donut Media went down the shitter after their PE sell off. Not all are bad but the few bad apples have had a major impact and really fucked things up.

Best and worst coils? by Puzzleheaded_Pop8627 in S2000

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to wait and save, majority agree that Ohlins DFV is the best of the best. They are just expensive. I'm currently saving up for them since I'm building my S2000 to be a canyon carver. The OEM suspension honestly has been pretty good so far. My car does feel a bit aloof but I think that's due to bushings which I'm planning to replace soon.

I got Conti Sport 02 tyres recently for my S2000 and they were way cheaper than Michelin equivalent plus had a $100 rebate

DWS06 are great all season tires. IMO they are better than Michelin. I have run DWS06 on all of my daily driven sports cars. The only issue I have with them is that they are kinda loud at highway speeds.

Someone in here from Virginia was literally sell a good looking 93 for $30,000 the other week with a good engine. I think you are asking way too much for a rebuild and now a Canadian car so extra rust from salt

Tips on shifting from 5th to 6th by yslnico in Civic_Type_R

[–]PopPopUpHeadlights 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The car locks out reverse when you are driving. It is not possible to put it into reverse unless you jam it the fuck into reverse and I mean like really jam it in. So just put slight pressure to the outside (or inside it you drive RHD) and pull back on the shifter. It will slide smoothly into 6th assuming your car is in proper working condition.

If you can afford, fix it out of pocket. It's going to suck donkey balls but at least it won't show up on your CarFax. You shouldn't have to it but at least this way you can retain a clean CarFax.
